Innocent Kitten being dragged into the situation.
So for those who havent read any of my blogs before. I (29F) am currently living with a guy (47m) and his son (15). Yes, I know the age gap is already a red flag, and although I don't think an age gap in itself is a red flag, in this case the stereotype of the older man is appearing to ring true.
I have recently come to terms with this relationship ending once I move out because I am trying to make better choices for myself at this point in my life which I think is appropriate as I am nearing 30 etc and starting to get my life together a bit. Anywho.
So, STBX is an indulgent single father to a useless, antisocial, self absorbed, irresponsible and ignorant 15 year old. Said boy failed 2nd year of secondary school (like 8th grade) for the second time and also apprently failed 5th grade. STBX told me no no, he only failed 2nd of secondary once but it doesnt really add up that a kid who turned 15 is in 8th grade.
So, after scrambling to get the ungrateful boy signed up for a two year basic trade program in something he has pretty much zero interest or ability in (his failing grades were in math and science, his only passing grades in English (we live in a country where the language is not English) and physical education) he decided that he should just get this kid a cat because wow, lets reward a kid for sitting on his laurels while his pathetic parents bail him out and prevent him from reaching rock bottom by giving him a pet. The best option would have been to allow this boy to sit and study with a bunch of 12 year olds as a 16 year old. Maybe that would give him some incentive to do some friggin work.
Anyway, I am rambling a bit but getting to the part about the cat. STBX adopts a kitten without consulting me even though I am still living here until the weekend, and I previously had expressed my disapproval seeing as the house is extremely tiny, these two dunces can barely manage to keep it clean, and well call me crazy but i think animals deserve a clean home with responsible people to take care of them. "SS" shows little to no interest in the kitten except for to pick her tiny little body up and just manipulate her like a toy for 5 minutes and then go play video games with his friends.
Any time I tell them to be more gentle with her, SS jumps on the opportunity to triangulate me with his father as the "annoying" person getting on them about the cat. Its so gross and pathetic that a 15 year old is this emotionally dependent on his father, it is borderline emotional incest IMO.
Oh and lets not forget about SS getting jealous of the attention (!!!!!) STBX gives to the kitten. It is just so toxic I can feel my pores oozing.
I am aware that I am beating a dead horse with my complaints, I just am at my aboslute wits end these final few days and just praying praying praying that the burden of living here can be lightened. At least kitty is very cute and sweet.
thanks in advance for any commiseration and / or support!!!

Sunshine, I'm not saying that
Sunshine, I'm not saying that tiny kitten living with SS and STBX is not cause for concern, but am wondering if your nerves are on edge due to your impending exit and everything grates on them.
You are, quite literally, hours away from getting out of that place. Eyes on the prize. Your freedom!
Oh for sure
I am very sensitive atm, yes. Appreciate the reminder to remember I'm close to the end!
When you leave, please steal
When you leave, please steal the kitty. Sooner or later they'll get sick of cleaning hte litter, stop doing it, kitty will do what kitties do wherever it can, they will get angry and kitty will suffer. Please do what you can to avoid all that. "Oh dear, I opened the door and it slipped out. I had no idea it could move so fast. I am SO sorry!" Do it a couple of days before you go and get a friend to homd on to it until you move out.
^^^^ I was going to suggest
^^^^ I was going to suggest the exact same^^^^ take the kitty with you and if you don't want to keep it yourself, drop it off at a shelter - it will have a better life there - hopefully get rehomed - than it would with your ex and SS.
Yeeeeesssss, Winterglow!!! I
Yeeeeesssss, Winterglow!!! I came back to edit my comment and suggest exactly that. *give_rose*
I would love to.
Oh yeah, HE (my stbx, ss doesn't lift a finger to take care of his "gift" lol) is already complaining abo it the smell, her scratching things and knocking things off of furniture. That's literally the point of a cat. Acting like one.
I will see if I can line something up as an alternative home because they're already talking about being tired of her smell.
If the smell is bothering
If the smell is bothering them, then maybe they should clean her litter tray ...
Exactly. Only I have done it
Exactly. Only I have done it so far. This is yet another display of how selfish and stupid they both are.
Another vote to take the kitten.
Another vote to take the kitten. If they say anything, you can tell them she must have gotten out while you were moving out.
