Taking SD on our honeymoon has been brought up :(
FDH and I are planning our wedding & honey moon and we were trying to figure out the schedule as far as Bm and SD are concerned. SD usually is with us every other week, but we are planning a 2-week honeymoon (It's a pretty involved trip) and so we will have to ask BM to take her two weeks in a row, then we will have her 2 weeks in a row right after that. At least, that was the plan I came up with.

ergh! SD whiny today. (Just a little vent)
Good God! SD is just on a tear today. What irks me the most is she would never be such a whiner if her dad were here, but he is out getting some parts we need for repairs at our new home.

Sd here for the week -- so far so good-- but talking in 3rd person to me. UGH.
So SD8 arrived yesterday and so far, so good.
We have new puppies and she has been super responsible about helping with them, cleaning up messes and walking, feeding, even helping them learn training commands. FDH & I both have been thrilled with how she has stepped up -- And it's rubbing off on other things too; she got her own breakfast and cleaned up after herself after eating, putting dishes in sink and rinsing them. (I know, some of you want to kill me and take my life right now... lol!)
BM insulting FDH to SD
Apparently SD and BM have been having major difficulties, fighting with each other, saying nasty things, and SD8 must have said something about something or other being better at her dad's (here). She came over unexpectedly, when BM called us and said could we take her yesterday afternoon just for the afternoon until BM was done working. FDH said yes and we went out to the house we just bought to do some work with SD.

Noticed some of us here were widow/widowers.. Different from divorce?
I noticed on another blog post some of us SMs had 1st husbands who died for one or another reasons. Sunshine, JSmom & dabevans are some I see.
I also am a widow, and will be marrying FDH next year. I don't have any biokids.
Bought a house, yay! (kinda OT)
It's been a little while since I posted -- My mom came to visit for a week, and we went out of town the weekend before that. It's the first minute I've had to myself in 12 days or so. Whew.

Just a few more hours
It's nearly the end of our week with SD8, as she goes to her mom's this afternoon.
She was great all week, through Friday when we left on a weekend trip to see my extended family several hours away. But I swear through the weekend and so far today I could/can not stand her behavior. Rude, mean, messy, disrespectful, and my fiance (FDH) did not even notice. He was preoccupied with working while on the road, interacting with my family (he's not a very social person), and the travel logistics.

Parenting win :-)
I was really proud of FDH today, although I know he wasn't overjoyed about what happened: here it is.

OT-- Huge fight
FDH (my fiance) and I had a horrible blow up this a.m.
It was both our faults, but ended up with us both screaming, throwing dishes, destroying the breakfast he was making, wrecking the kitchen. We have literally never had a fight like that before. He yells sometimes when he is really mad, but I don't respond, talking in a calm voice, and he usually gets himself under control. That's always been my way. Today I didn't do that, I argued with him, and yelled back, and generally lost it. SD8 couldn't help but overhear, we were very loud.

Eating times a control issue or a growing kid?
It was a weird day today, sd8 behaved fairly well, watched more tv than I would like but generally good. The trouble came when she was given breakfast, then dh and I work from home. She came in an hour after breakfast complaining she was still hungry. She’s in a growth spurt so this is kind of normal. Dh made her a snack. We go back to work. I make DH and I lunch, and ask sd if she wants any, about an hour after her snack. She says no. she’s not hungry. Half an hour later she is asking us to make her lunch. Dh says, no, you turned down lunch when it was offered and now we are working.
