I was really proud of FDH today, although I know he wasn't overjoyed about what happened: here it is.

SD8 wanted to pack clothes for the weekend trip we are leaving on tomorrow. Great, I am glad she volunteered to do it, I am busy working. She says she doesn't have the clothes she wants in her closet, I tell her your clean clothes are folded in a basket in our room. FDH is sitting across from me and asks me should she hang up the clothes too, I say yes, please.(although I wasnt going to tell her to, I sure don't mind) He tells SD8, hang up the rest of basket of clothes while you are at it. She turns to go do it and as she walks away says "OK but that's not what I wanted to do now" in a whiny voice.

FDH says, come back here and tell me, what does that qualify as, what you just said? She looks confused and says, making you mad? He says, no, that is talking back, when I tell you to do something and you mouth off about it while walking away from me. So now, you do what I told you to do, and then you clean your room up so there is nothing on the floor (the qualification for "clean").

I look at him and say, sorry, I didn't mean to create an issue with the hanging up the clothes thing. He says no, she created the issue by talking back. Hurray for FDH! This whole parenting thing is working out OK for us right now. hope the rest of you have good things happen today too!
