Ironing fairy leaving the building part 2

Sootica's picture

At the beginning of October I posted how the ironing fairy had left the building.Well SS13 stb14 hasn't done ANY ironing since then. I mentioned to DH during half term that SS should do some ironing and the response was "yes he will".

Last night I get back from my exercise class and DH is being all pissy with me. Eventually he asks "Remind me again why you aren't doing SS ironing again?I'm not sending him to school looking like a tramp" ie.his uniform isn't ironed either. So I replied "Two reasons - firstly you may recall I told both you & SS at the beginning of Oct I will no longer be doing SS ironing due to him changing 50 outfits a day and generating a mountain of washing unnecessarily.Secondly because of SS using the iron to iron the removable badge on his favourite jumper and leaving the iron with the cord dangling and not secured on its stand.I have reminded SS on 3 separate occasions to secure the iron on the stand and he refuses to listen."

The iron is £250.00 steam iron,so not cheap, securing it on the stand only requires pulling the clip up to lock it in place.I had explained to SS on 3 occasions to either please not use the iron or if he uses it to please leave it as he found it as if the iron isn't secure it can fall off the stand and break,as well as, injure my cats if it falls on them.

Unlike DH I have absolutely no problem following through, 3 strikes and you are out! DH can pout all he wants but just saying "sorry" & doing the same damn thing repeatedly doesn't work with me.SS is with us this weekend so it will be interesting to see if he actually makes a dent in his mountain of ironing that is now overflowing from the basket.

sue2 I originally said I wasn't doing his ironing because between Thurs afternoon when the laundry basket was empty and Tuesday morning when I did the washing again (on a non skid weekend when he stayed with DH overnight as they went to SIL's 40th) there were 10 loads of washing -predominantly SS which is when I flipped my lid. The ironing being left not as found happened a few days later.Apologies I didn't explain that very well.

Echo I agree with you 100% but for some reason SS is deemed old enough to catch a bus to the mall on his own, have a gf and have much more freedom than is age appropriate yet can't do his own washing /ironing. He is more than welcome to use the iron now because I'm definately not doing his ironing if he breaks the iron DH can cough up for a new one. I also believe laundry it's a life skill but if the child's parent won't back me up in this then what to do?I only hope if I don't do it he will.
