I don't want any of you to be jealous

but DH and his kids, SD13 and SS10 are on vacation, without me, 1 state and 8 hours away. And I'm happy as a clam about it!

I was a little annoyed when DD18 and I were talking yesterday about maybe going somewhere together for 4-5 days before she leaves for the University and he pipes up with "I wanna go!!" That man thinks he has to be included in everything. Like a little kid.

I am in a slightly different position to you in that my DH has taken the SDs away every year since I moved in with him a decade ago. When they were younger I was happy about it because I certainly didn't want to go with, and it was preferable to having them staying here. However, they are now 18 and 16 and I am getting a little fed up with it.

I put it to him that this year, he could stay home with the SDs and the dog, when we have them for a week in the summer, and I will go away! We will see how that pans out. Wink

I'm sorry, Kes. He was actually reluctant to go without me. I really like having alone time and he sometimes can be a bit smothering. But I talked to him today and they are having a good time doing things I have no interest in.

Absolutely Foxie.

And... I got to work tonight and booked the trip for DD and I. So excited Smile It will be the week before her 19th birthday and before she leaves for the University. It will be a bit bittersweet.

I've tried to get DF to take vacations alone with his kids. He will do day trips with them but nothing over night yet.

My son and I do a weekend trip with my parents and sister's family each year for out of state family events.

My son graduates from college next year. I'm thinking about taking him on a Mediterranean cruise. If we go, DF will not be joining us.

I was so happy when he realized it was a great idea. I work nights so he could have either put the kids in daycare/camp during Spring Break or they could go do something w/o me. He choose to take them someplace I would be utterly bored with but they will all love. Win/win.

I'm not jealous but I am happy for you!

For the first time in almost ten years of marriage, my skids are with MOTY for spring break and my kids are spring breaking with their buddies.

I have my husband and my house completely to myself with NO kids for ten glorious days!!!
