SD17 lost door priveleges today....
Last week I posted that I had installed locking doors on my office and the master bedroom, in order to keep nosy SD17 from snooping around and messing with stuff. SD17 apparently just noticed this, and in realiation, she locked the door to her room just prior to leaving for school. Apparently she got ahold of another one of the generic keys for the interior doors, and thinks that she can keep her room "secure" during the day.
Needless to say, I had another one those generic keys myself. Heeding the advice of Rags, I have removed her door. She has been warned before about locking her door, and is just doing it now to "get back" at us for putting locking doors on the office and the master bedroom. I am really curious to see what her reaction will be when she gets home today....

BWA HA HA HA HA!! AWESOME!!
BWA HA HA HA HA!! AWESOME!!
Already told DW. She did not
Already told DW. She did not voice disapproval, which is good enough for me. SD17 is going to have to "deal with it."
Why not put a handle on her
Why not put a handle on her door that doesn't lock??girls need a door. The little brat shouldn't have locked her door but I think taking ALL of her privacy away is inappropriate.I think if it were me,the next step would have been to either put a knob with no lock or just remove the handle from the door.that way she can still have the privacy that ALL girls need without annoying you by locking the door.
AD is right, she has the
AD is right, she has the bathroom. SD6 has a door here, but she isn't allowed to close it.
She was shutting my cat in there and doing who know what to her, enough to make her cry . SO protested with, "she is a girl and need a door". Well she has access to one, in the bathroom. }:)
Way to go paul!!
I might put the door back on,
I might put the door back on, sans handle, after a period of time. If this was a first-time offense, I might be inclined to just take the handle, but she has been warned about this before.
my mom was harsh but I am
my mom was harsh but I am sure glad I didn't have to deal with any of you guys as my parent!lol!i got the handle of my door removed and that put the 'don't lock your damn door'rule through my head very well and she never had to do it again.
My dad did this to my sister
My dad did this to my sister and I for slamming the door. It stayed off for two weeks. We were miserable, but we never slammed the door again. You do what you need to. This girl needs to be put in her place....Let us know how it goes. I am sure you are in for a very fun evening...
Yup, my daughter slammed the
Yup, my daughter slammed the door "at me" a few times when she was in high school. I took the door off and made her EARN it back ( a concept completely new an unfamiliar to today's kids!). If she needed to change clothes, she used the bathroom. When she finally got her door back, it was never slammed again.
LOVE IT! and if her snotty
LOVE IT! and if her snotty ass gives you shit about it, tell her if she keeps it up the door will NEVER be put back on!!!
that's an idea, since i can't get skids to keep the door shut, maybe remove it and say "well, since you refuse to close it i figured you didn't need it!) }:)
Stick to your guns. It is
Stick to your guns. It is difficult to do but if you and your DW hang tough SS-17 will pull her head out of her ass eventually.
My wife has finally learned that our son (my SS-18) will only respond to being treated like an 8yo and if his only option is to do what he is told when he is told or suffer abject misery. He will do what he knows he is supposed to do if he suffers abject misery if he does not.
My SS has not learned yet that misery follows poor decisions but he reports to basic training to start his 6yr enlistment in 29 days. He knows that if he screws this up and gets booted out of the USAF that he is not coming home.
Hang in there.
Good luck and best regards,
I think I remember loosing my
I think I remember loosing my door a time or two when I was younger. Another idea for 'privacy' issues if there are not enough bathrooms to have SD holing up in there..... A curtain in her doorway. It can't be slammed or locked, doesn't even have to go all the way to the floor. Can even be made out of a bed sheet (top) and push pins. She gets privacy, bathroom is usable by all, no slamming and locking of doors. Just an idea coming from a 1 bathroom place.
Keep us updated Paul, can't
Keep us updated Paul, can't wait to hear what the little butt says about her door being gone!
Hang in there, this is a great way to establish your autority.
