OT (Sorta) - Question about pot-smoking and pregnancy?

G'day fellow STalkers,

Was wondering if any of you had experience with the above-topic.  Specifically, wondering about the long-term implactions of women who regularly smoke weed during their pregnancy.  There seems to be little firm information on it, but given that this site is full of step-moms who live with coddled, pot-smoking female skids, I figured there would be some insight here.  Thank you.

Anything the mother absorbs.. so does the baby.   According to a mayoclinic post, it can contribute to low birth rate and may increase risk of stillborn.. also could be links to mental health, social issues and sleep problems in children.  It can also make the user dizzy or alter judgement that could put you at risk to falls and other accidents.. which could also harm the baby.

Like everything in life.. I'm guessing that the extent of use of stuff is going to be the biggest factor.  A glass of wine occasionally is probably not going to cause any noticeable issues.. and may have even been allowed by DR's or an occasional cigarette etc.. but I imagine regular and habitual use would not be beneficial to the mother.. or the baby (smoking anything has health risks.. just for the smoking part of it)

The above links are from fairly reiable sources and they all say more or less the same thing. Don't. *

Another point to consider is that drug screening at birth is becoming more and more common and smoking pot during pregnancy could have the baby taken away from the mother ...

I'm currently pregnant (13 weeks) and during my intake I was told absolutely no pot or alcohol (and don't scoop cat boxes). I agree with those above.

My DD just had a baby, yes I am a grandma! She was told absolutely no alcohol (she doesn't smoke pot so there's no need to say that but she likes occasional glass of wine). She was also told no coffee except one small cup a day or decaf. No shellfish, my DD loves ousters, so guess that's fell into that category and no cleaning cat litter.

I assume smoking pot is bad for an unborn baby. It can't be good

Some of the things I've seen in my real-life experience are extremely small babies, when mom was a regular pot-smoker during pregnancy.  I've also read that these babies may have learning disabilities as they get older.

My little nephew was just born healthy and with all ten fingers and toes. His mama, my sister in law, has trouble sleeping and used weed gummies (low dosage - like 5 mg) throughout her pregnancy to aid in sleep. She was up front with her OBGYN about it and they didn't seem to think it would harm the baby at such a low dosage. So that is my 2 cents worth. Using a prescription or otc sleep aid certainly wouldn't be any safer for the baby, and mama needs to sleep in order to be healthy, so.... all things in moderation.
