O/T-any gardeners?
We just bought a lovely new house! I'm so excited to decorate and settle into the house.
The one drawback is that I won't have a garden. The house is on .5 of an acre but it's mostly forest and full of deer.
Short of putting up a greenhouse (which might happen next year) I'll have to be satisfied with pots on my deck.

OT- sort of, fathers who don't try
My niece is an SD, she's 36 and very independent.
We aren't actually related by blood, it's long and complicated but I've been in her life since she was 2.
I love her like a daughter and treat her like one. I have overstepped lots of boundaries with her parents but in the end it's all worked out. We are very close, closer than she is with her Mom in fact.

Munchausen by proxy
After reading a cople of blogs where BMs have stunted or are in the process of stunting the intellect of their children, I was reminded of this extreme case that came out a few years ago.
I just watched Mommy Dead and Dearest. It was very interesting.
I'm amazed at how easily this mother got Drs to agree to her diagnoses. Not so amazed at how easily she got Dad out of the picture and saddened at what this child went through.
I don't think I'd trust this girl though. Too many years of learning manipulation at her mothers knee. It's just sad all the way around.

OT-A cautionary tale, save for retirement!
I had a friend living with me for the past 18 or so months.
She's a very good friend of mine and while I know this is gossipy, I think there is a lesson here for those who don't have money of their own set aside for retierement.
Some background.
She is 62 and you must be 65 to collect CPP and old age pension in Canada. She is working part time at a retail store.
She went from living with her husband (divorced) to living with her elderly father (died) to renting with other people (couldn't find a good situation) to living with me.

When is a kid too old to borrow from their parents.
Think this would make any difference to those who have DHs that are just open wallets?

Children are like . . .
I just read this and had to share.
Children are like farts, you can handle your own but others are unbearable!

Did you know you were making a mistake?
For those who are divorced or looking for a way out, did you know before you got married that it was a mistake? Did you see all the red flags and ignore them?
My first marriage, I settled. My ex was handsome, had a good job, didn't drink too much, didn't party too much, was a nice vanilla kind of guy. I wasn't wild crazy in love but I felt secure and my family thought he was a good guy.
I remember thinking that marriage might not be a good idea but telling myself I just had cold feet and I was being silly.

OT - Go fund me accounts
Sorry most of my blogs are off topic it seems.
On another thread there was the suggestion to create a go fund me for a HS sport that was going to cost around $600. I didn't want to hijack that thread so I created this one.
What do you think of them?
Do you donate to them?
To me it is just begging online. I'll never give to one, no matter who it is or what they are asking for. I certainly wouldn't give to one asking for money to play a school sport!
I have a couple of stories.

Narcissists tactics
This is a very good compilation of how narcissists work and the things they do to gain control.
So many examples of what BMs and exs do all the time.
