I hate Kansas Courts!

I can't believe we are still dealing with the same shit from a year ago.

BM's attorney won't respond to ours for a court date. The judge told our Lawyer that last week since there was no response that he could pick the date. He went to pick the date and the judge came back and said to give them another week. ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME.

We got word from DH's command to basically be ready to go by May. Now, because of my new volunteer role, I know we have more time than May before DH leaves, but the entire ship is being told to be ready. SS also graduates in May. There is no reason for this to keep dragging on other than BM wants to keep her meal ticket.

We have proof that she has been working for the last 3 years AT LEAST not under the table to hide it. The "arrearage" that she is claiming isn't 32K, more like 5K which we will write her a check in the court room and be done. We just need this shit to end.

Our lawyer sucks but the judge sucks more. I think our lawyer is tired of his hands always being tied too. We have 2 illegal orders by this judge. Non stop continuances, refusals to rule, "not going to hear that" 's, etc.

DH and I are going to pay for a billboard in the judge's town once this is resolved and have it all on full display. Judges there are elected and I hope to GOD we help end his term!

It would depend on the town wouldn't it? Would a greater percentage read that billboard and think "Golly, that's exactly the sort of judge I want!" or "Let's vote him out, he's a disgrace!". BM would definitely be in the former category.

I'm sorry that it still sucks.  At least, the end is almost insight.  But lordy, your judge is a menace.

Don't waste your money on the billboard.  Save it to go out for a really nice sushi date night when you are visiting DH in Japan.

I cannot believe this is still going on...UGH.

Sidenote - Thing2 went to graduate school in Kyoto, and I went to visit him twice, so if you need any travel advice, shoot me a message!!

Family court is the Wild Wild West of the law. Most everything is up to discretion unlike other areas of law where the law actually applies. There are no consequences for pergury in FC. Nobody wins except the judges, lawyers and court ordered professionals who enjoy professional and political advancement along with a fat paycheck. It is a rare day that a family court judge really understands how to do a good job. There is little to no recourse for families when judges bungle a case. IMHO these are the dirty not so secrets of FC. It's not over until both sides agree it is over.
IMO private mediation is the way to go if at all possible but I know it is not always possible if you are dealing with a HC ex.

FC is a farce for bioDADs almost universally in western society.   And even mediation 99% of the time fails.   If 2 people aren't mature enough to work out their differences, odds are mediation will definitely fail.

In our case, mediation was a complete joke.   We paid for it and the Girhippo got off scott free with a lopsided mediation agreement that highly favored her.

Then she ran out and got a bulldog attorney to enforce everything and more.  Meanwhile she violated the CO with a breath taking impertinence.  She received only taps on the wrist at best.

The court's default seems to favor the party that is most crazy, disordered and relentless with litigation, male or female. I have seen so many botched cases. In the worst cases, Judges rarely get it right. Our current FC system is enough to cause even the most stable and grounded person some mental health issues.

I contacted the local paper to run a full page add covering out idiot Harry Potter robed Fisher-Price wooden toddler's hammer weilding bottom 10%er of the legal profession dipshit.

I also let our attorney convince me to pull the add before it published.

It is probably best that I did pull it, but... a billboard!!!

Great idea.

ONLY after the case is closed. SS is already 18, so who cares if the judge doesn't like it.

ad in the local paper after our custody battle hearing. It was the week SS-30 turned 2yo.

If I had not pulled that ad, likely our court experiences over the next 16 years could have been much less positive than they actually were.
