Finally heard back from the lawyer!!!

BM's lawyer is sending over their newest proposal this afternoon. It is going to be filled with BS. We are going to take that, submit it to the judge who has already told our lawyer that he is going to rule the divorced finalized with the journal entry and then we set the court date for custody. The judge also told both lawyers in an email that he is likely going to rule standard out of state visitation- Most of Christmas break, spring break, every other Thanksgiving and most of the summer. That is all that SO has been asking for for 5 years now. It looks like this whole disaster will be over in the next couple of months and he could be divorced next week!

Sounds like the Judge is getting sick of all the game playing. Good for you guys!

I know how stressful this part will be. Can I ask how far the distance is between bm and DH.

Driving distance, a few hours but in different states? OR A necessary flight? A few key components may be necessary to include.
Transportation- DAD responsible for one way ticket to bring child to his home state /mother responsible for one way ticket to her home state.

TAXES- Odd year dad /even year mom

IF dh wants 1/2 of Christmas and Easter get ready for huge problems. Maybe your bm is reasonable. ODD year dad, even year mom. Reduces stress------

OFFER mom 2nd half of summer. DH has first 4 weeks, mom last 4 weeks.

Years ago custodial would have to pay ncp back child support during extended stays. Not any longer. Financially burdensome on ncp who pay bm all summer long AND support child with essentials PLUS daycare or camp without one cent from BM.

NCPs have had to give up summers because they could not afford to support bm home and their own. NCP would take 1 week maybe 2.

Just stuff to think about.

1300 miles - it takes 21 hrs to drive it typically due to mountains. There are times we make the drive and there are times we fly it.

We do already have taxes settled so that is good!

SS is 13 so we don't have to worry about daycare or camp. We are also lucky that SS17 will be there as well as my 2 bios. They all get along, so that is nice as well.

We aren't giving her 1/2 of summer break. It will be all but 2-3 weeks at our house out of the 11 he has off. This has been an on going battle for 5 years. The problem is that BM wouldn't agree to anything more than SO getting him for spring break and "when his schedule allows" in the summer up until now, which equated to 2 weeks in the summer. 3 weeks in total for the year.
