How about some good news

JRI's picture

In May, my DS57 learned that a polyp removed during a colonoscopy was malignant.  He and his wife moved temporarily to a city with a great medical center and they prepared for colon surgery.  DIL had previous experience with a doctor there who they trusted.

During the testing prior to surgery, DS learned that he not only had diabetes but his heart arteries were 80% blocked.  The colon surgery was put on hold and in June, he had a triple bypass.  The heart surgery was tough on him but he's making a good recovery. He's also lost 25 lb and is no longer on insulin.  He has changed his diet and is starting some mild daily exercise.

Last week, he went back for another colonoscopy prior to colon surgery.  Numerous samples were taken for biopsy and they showrd NO CANCER!  The doctor thinks the removal of the polyp got it all and he saw no regrowth.  They are sending the samples out for still more study and keeping the surgery date on the books but the doctor is betting it will be unnecessary.

I am so thankful.  Life is good.

That's great.. and a reminder to us all that getting these kinds of screenings can absolutely save lives.  (I had mine when the time came.. know others who found things early!)

Yay! So happy to hear he is doing well!  Its hard to change your diet. I know from experience. Good for him. Its definitely worth the effort to feel better.
