My past few blogs have revolved around DH's nephew who was in the service and recently died. I am sure since he was young he never took the thought of dying seriously. Among the living one minute and dead the next due to a vehicle accident.

His dad moved him out of the home when he was about 8 and raised him alone. The mom's older children from another marriage were not treating very nice. [Putting him in the dryer, putting him in garbage cans and holding the lid down,usual partying when they should have been looking out for little brother]while the parents worked.

Neither older sibling did much with their life except to populate the earth a little more and create the havoc in their lives that come with drugs and drinking. Yet the irony of it all is that these are the people that will benefit from his death.

Dad was not always the best father but then no one is perfect. But I think he did the best he was capable of doing. With a lot of help from family he kept the boy with him. Mom offered nothing in the way of help or support for several years. Then her contribution was minimal. She was busy dealing with the older adult kids problems. Other then an occassional visit she was not active in any of his needs, schooling ,or activities.

Mom no longer needs to work- she is beneficiary of a large insurance policy. Just bought a new house, new car, and her adult children will be right there to help her spend.
