Big win with SS, epic fail with BM

This weekend we went away to the country with the in-laws and SS4. I was very worried about how the weekend would go, given that SS4 has been a little monster for the last month. Our only vague hope was that SS would behave better in front of in laws. Miraculously he did! No more of the sulks, endless tantrums, and deliberate bad-behaviour of the past several visits. Instead we got the cuddly, happy, bouncy, generally well-behaved little boy that I used to know! I have no idea what changed in his little brain, but I really hope this lasts.

The fun began this morning when BM was supposed to pick up SS. We had (foolishly) agreed to keep him overnight Sunday night. At the time it made sense: we didn’t have to rush home from the country for drop-off time and BM didn’t have to find a babysitter so she could go to a cousin’s 18th birthday party. She was supposed to come pick him up at 10 am. But she can’t because she is too HUNG-OVER to drive! (BM says its food poisoning, hahahaha) She wants DH to drive 45 minutes each way across town to drop off SS. He says no, come pick up our child when you are sufficiently better (sober) to drive, SS can stay home with me. She says meet half way at 11:30. He says, no come pick up our child when you are sobered-up enough to drive! Suddenly SS has an un-announced doctor appt at 12:30, and does DH want to take him? SS did not understand why he didn’t get to go back to BM in the morning, as we promised him, and now DH has missed a whole day’s work (and pay) because of BM’s Sunday-night party. WTF?!?!? Who acts like this at 34???

Lol my BM acts like this. She picked up SD 3 hours late yesterday. We don't even ask why anymore. I'm just glad she dropped trying the 5 day thing like her SO does with his son.
