Taxes....taxes...taxes

BM is an idiot!!!!!! The divorce decree clearly states that she claims FSD on the even years and FDH claims her on the odd years. This idiot claims she forgot and claimed FSD.... in 2011 she told FDH that she was having surgery and asked him to let her claim FSD that year and he could claim her in 2012 to make up for it. Any Intelligent person would then realize that it would go back to what is in the decree.... and he wonders why I get angry when he is alway trying to "help her for FSD sake". Has anyone else dealt with this? Is the only way to fix this by sending in the paper form with the divorce decree? God im so fucking annoyed with this woman.

Girl, our BM claimed one of the kids every year even though she signed 8332's (the CO says DH claims one kid, BM claims the other). For the first time a couple of years ago, DH got the lovely IRS letter stating the person with SSN XXX-XX-XXXX (skid) was claimed on someone else's taxes already.

I coached DH thru calling the IRS, then promptly dug out EVERY SINGLE 8332 she had ever signed, copied them, and sent them in. And also had DH "mention" while on the phone with the IRS that they may want to take a look at BM's past taxes and compare them to the 8332's we were sending.

Sure 'nuf, BM had been doing it since the CO was fresh off the press SIXTEEN YEARS AGO.

Although I usually don't give BM much thought, unless she's screwing with my household, my money, or my family... I did have to wonder exactly how much $ she had to pay back because we did receive a follow-up stating all of DH's documentation had been reviewed and he was "in the clear". DH asked BM about it, and she played it off by saying she told the IRS it was an "innocent mistake" (for 16 years?!?!) and they said, "Oh, OK! Just don't do it again!" I'm thinking they aren't going to turn their back on 16 years of EIC's, dependent credits for someone she had no right to claim.

Have you ever considered using the 8332 form?
