SD12 shut Down!

Cover1W's picture

....By DP himself!

:jawdrop:

So I installed a new toilet seat in the SDs bathroom last night.
SD12 was very impressed then said something about her dad not using "her" bathroom.

Background: Before we moved in we made it clear that SDs could not just use the master bath (located inside our bedroom suite) whenever they wanted. SD(12) then said WE could not use HERS then. LOL - nope, we shut that down whenever she's said it...

I just told her she needs to go "talk to her dad" if she has an opinion.
So she marches upstairs and very, very snottily tells her dad off for daring to use HER bathroom.

DP: Excuse me?! Who pays for this house? That would be Cover and I, not you. We will use THE bathroom whenever we want to.
SD12: You can't! Stay out!
DP: I am WORKING downstairs, in the office, across from THE bathroom, earning money to pay for this house and I will use it whenever I want to. You have no say in this, conversation over!
SD12: Fine, then SHOVE OFF!
DP: Don't you ever, ever tell me that or give me attitude...

I lost track of convo as DP followed SD12 to her room.
He told me he told her to knock off that attitude and furthermore she's not once since we've lived their helped clean the bathroom, that he spent 2 hours cleaning in recently which further reduces her argument of any claim whatsoever for it...

I was like, That is SO GREAT! You were Fantastic! Get to bed!

}:)

This morning, I realized I forgot a few things in the SDs bathroom so I retrieved them. Noticed SD12 had put a nice ring of soap around the new toilet seat.
Me: DP, SD12 has apparently booby-trapped the toilet seat by putting soap all around it.
DP: What? (lack of coffee)
Me: (repeated)
DP: Really? Are you sure it's deliberate?
Me: Are you KIDDING? GO LOOK.
DP: What...?
Me: GO LOOK.
DP: Well, she's going to have to clean it up...(i.e. before she leaves the house for school).

I added that the soap may be meant for SD10 as it's April Fool's Day and SD12 loves April Fools. But she still needs to clean it up because otherwise DP has to do it...we'll see what he did!

For DP this is a HUGE thing.

1) He didn't ignore her attitude.
2) He didn't fly off the handle but reacted firmly and didn't let her over-talk him.
3) He didn't let HER end the conversation.
4) He pointed out HIS ultimate authority.

He gave her a clearly worded response and a warning that she will not bring this up again.

I do expect that if she does, he'll discuss it with me and I think that there will be ramifications. He's already set that bar in place for her keeping her room clean.

These are two huge things for him.

So true! I get so excited when DH actually "parents". I'm like, yeah, you go and then that way I'm not the only evil one.

This reminds me of what my youngest DD did to me a few years ago on April fool day. She wrapped clear Saran Wrap over the toilet hole and closed the lid. I had no idea of course and let's just say I got quite the surprise! Wink

Sometimes, these men have to take baby steps before they can master heels Smile I hope he keeps the momentum going.

My DH is kind of a go along easy laid back guy. I am somewhat less so.. thank goodness I'm not a neat freak or anything. Some stuff just doesn't bother him.. and it's hard for him to be too much the lecturer because when the kids were little it's not like he wanted to spend all his precious time with them in lecture mode.
