There is a God...And He/She says yes...Sometimes (Update at the bottom)
Ok. So this week I got a bit of good news. If you have read my previous blogs you will know about SS12, lets call him Severus (he goes around in that kind of grumpy mood). The deal with Severus is that he was diagnosed with ADHD at age 5 and promptly put on meds. He has gone through several types of medications and has since been diagnosed with ODD and Asperger's. I am sure there are a couple more in there but I can't remember them all. He is currently taking an anti-psychotic and a drug used for manic depression.
Severus is not really bad. Unfortunately, BM tells everyone what a special kid he is and how everything has to be done special for him so he can cope. She says he can't remember anything, so everyone in the family has to remind him to do everything. Get dressed, brush your teeth, do your homework (oh, yeah she got rid of homework for him, he couldn't remember to turn it in), and so on. But he can remember every single move that he has ever made on any video game and he knows all the Bionacles by name. It's very frustrating to see a pretty smart kid be pulled down to this low level. And he plays it. Whenever he screws up its "I can't remember". He doesn't get that while it may make life easier now, when he's grown its going to suck.
So BM enrolled Severus into Special Olympics. Keep in mind there is nothing wrong with this kid. So he won every event he was in and not just by a little. DH, Severus's Stepdad and I were all completely mortified. I then found out that if he won at State that he would go on to National's. Happy Day! So I told DH that I would not be using my vacation time to take him to nationals next summer (which did I tell you? Are TELEVISED!) during our visitation. Of course he won. So I have been on tenderhooks waiting to hear how much BM wanted us to pay to send him to Nationals.
This week I got the answer. He does not automatically get to go. It is a lottery type thing. I hope its rigged. }:-) And Special Olympics will fly the competitor out with one parent, BM volunteered to go. No money out of pocket if he does go and I don't have to waste vacation time and no guarantee that he will get to go.
God gave me 3 outs. She must be a SM.
*****UPDATE********
Severus did not win the lottery. He will not being going to National Special Olympics. He will not be televised. DH and I will not have to be completely embarrassed by BM's bad decision. BM has decided not to tell Severus in hopes he will forget about it. Who knows...if she puts him on the right drugs, he might.

Sounds like my BM too. I
Sounds like my BM too. I think she wants people to feel sorry for her with all of her "health problems". So, the little things that are wrong with SS9, she seems to exaggerate and celebrate them and has him well trained on reciting the how, when and whys of his so called "disabilities" like they're some sort of badge of honor  :barf: To me, it's all to keep attention somehow focused on her. Unfortunately, her hypochondriac ways have already rubbed off on SS9. I've never seen a kid so often and willingly reach for the thermometer to check his temperature. Ridiculous...
