OT - Eff Off Friday/Forn Friday

Aniki-Moderator's picture

TGIF, STalkers. Long week. Sigh...

Eff off to:

  • King Pita. Dude. Seriously. I'm ready to sacrifice my vintage Converse to have KP abducted by aliens... but only if he never returns. KP doesn't know if he's coming or going, much less how to do his job.
  • Car trouble. DH's car is on the fritz. Since he has a long commute, he's driving my car while I'm driving his teeny little road hugger. Feels like I'm in a clown car. Ugh.

Forn Friday

Forn is 'food' and 'p0rn' combined.

I want cookies. But not just any cookies. I want spice cookies like Mom used to make, with molasses, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves. Great with coffee, milk, or tea! What's your favorite cookie?

Wishing you a stress-free, healthy, and enjoyable weekend!

Eff off to irresponsible people, especially when they try to blame their mistake on me and my staff. I had to explain financial fraud and the US False Claims Act. This, over an altered invoice for not very much money. And THEN the fraudster blames me. Oh HELL no.

Eff off also to mean people.

Favorite cookie? Generally whichever one is in front of me. But if I were forced to choose, I'd probably go with shortbread.

Aniki-Moderator's picture

Gads. I'll second that eff off to irresponsible people and a YUGE eff off to freakin' fraudsters! *diablo*

Mean people suck.

Oooooooohhhhh, I do like a good shortbread cookie. I need a recipe.

Eff off to unreliable people.  Do not make plans and then cancel after I get to the place.  I do not like to  leave the house as it is.  Now I'm sitting here by myself.  It will never happen again.

Aniki - hugs but do not EVER give up those vintage Chucks.  LOL even the aliens wont take King Pita

Food:  DH is making his Shrimp Alfredo which is the best I have ever had for dinner tonight.  Nom Nom

Sunday is wings and stromboli.  Go EAGLES

Not a big cookie eater, but if it has coconut Ill eat most of em.

Aniki-Moderator's picture

That's bloody annoying! An emergency is understandable, but canceling after you arrived? What caca.

Classy, I've had these Chucks for 35 years. I break them out once a year to wear for a couple-three hours. They are coveted by quite a few. *dirol*

Yum to wings and coconut! Not coconut wings...

and haven't even seen them.  I have a few pairs that are over 25 years old.  Got married in a pair.

Aniki-Moderator's picture

Oooooooohhhhh, both are nice! DH doesn't know it, but I have about 75 pairs of Converse. *blush* Those and Harley boots (6 pairs) are my weakness.

TheAccidentalSM's picture

But they are limited edition made for a beer promotion in carlesburg green from 1990.  They are minimally worn as the boot style doesn't suit me.  Since 90's styles are having a revival, maybe I should try them again this summer.

Eff off to slick snow and slippery soft shoulders.  I'm trying to walk for an 90 minutes every day, and the snow has me stopped in my tracks.  Now I'm doing 90 minutes on the treadmill, and it's just not the same!  Could someone please melt all of this snow?!!!

Favorite cookie:  Shortbread.  Our business used to be located next to a bakery that made shortbread cookies, but at Christmas time, they would add marachino cherries to the mix.  OMG...  It took Shortbread cookies to the next level.

Great, now I have a craving.....   lol

Aniki-Moderator's picture

Bummer, Birchclimber! I actually enjoy high-stepping through the snow. *crazy* Slippery shoulders are no fun.

I want to make a sweet beer bread with New Glarus Belgian Red and dried cherries. Now *I* have a craving for beer bread!

SteppedOut's picture

I make a shortbread cookie for Christmas that has marachino cherries and white chocolate!

Hi Aniki,

I'm in a King Pita situation at work too, so I feel your pain. (Beanie Boy) I'm also tired of having drivers arguing with eachother in Russian, Chinese, and any other language than English. If you are going to make angry sounds that I don't understand - go outside of the lobby!  Not to mention some guy blew up our ladies bathroom and left his poopy undies in the trash - which made it smell godawful in there all day.

DH made me sushi, which I loved. I am a lucky woman.

As for desserts- I will always say yes. Butter and sugar are my friends. LOL.

Aniki-Moderator's picture

Shieldmaiden, luv the name 'Beanie Boy'!

Left his poopie undies in the ladies bathroom? WTH?! Why not in the ickle men's bathroom? They're always icky anyway so upping that ick factor with poopoo panties isn't totally unexpected. Regardless: Eeeeeeeeeeewwww!!!

I worked with a guy who was caught in the ladies and his excuse was that it was always so much cleaner than the gents... The next morning a large no entry sign superimposed on a moustache appeared on the mirror in the ladies. I was the prime suspect but it wasn't me - wish it had been but it wasn't.

I'm fond of Highlanders shortbread - a buttery shortbread base with a generous layer of soft, chewy caramel and topped with chocolate.

F off to getting old... on behalf of my 93 yo dad who had a setback last week was down with a virus or something that almost took him to the pearly gates.. but now he has lost even more mobility (hope temporarily).. so he needs his caregivers there 24/7 now.. which is a lot of money.. and I hate that his world has been reduced to one room and his bed.

I have no effs today. Lucky me.

But...here are some cookies - Cherry Chocolate Cookies!

1/2 cup butter, softened

3/4 cup sugar

1 large egg, room temperature

2 tablespoons milk

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

6 tablespoons baking cocoa

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup semisweet chocolate chunks

3/4 cup dried or maraschino cherries (I like a mix)

Preheat oven to 350°. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy, 5-7 minutes. Beat in egg, milk and vanilla. In a separate bowl, whisk flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt; gradually beat into creamed mixture. Stir in chocolate and cherries.

Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls 2 in. apart onto baking sheets lightly coated with cooking spray. Bake until firm, 12-14 minutes. Cool for 1 minute before removing to a wire rack.

ETA: Sometimes I add sliced almonds - also very good.

Eff off to my subordinate! Her last day is next week and I'm done with her. 1.5 years of constant mentoring and feedback and zero progress. Complaining about being asked to do things within her job role. Not doing things within her position level.

Yesterday I took away one of the last two things she was assigned to. I am the one who would take them over when she's gone but after looking at it and discussing with the other person involved who also doesn't want to talk with her any longer, I pulled the plug! Buh-bye. Her access to that is revoked!

My manager also said "I'm glad she's going!" (She was on the verge of being fired and knew it) LOL.

Cookies...shortbread 100% buttery, salty, or chocolate or anything. Love it. A close second is the salted chocolate brownies I make now and then.

Right?!

Eff off to people who are boarderline criminal and time wasters.  Can't elaborate much but do not try to tell me that it is perfectly normal to get paid in airmiles and reward card vouchers rather than currency.  Its tax avoidance/evasion.

F0rn

Mr TASM is taking me out to lunch today to a great local place.  Set menu is $24 for 3 courses which is a steal where I live.  Yum yum yum.

Aniki, I love a spiced cookie.  Your recipe looks fab.

Aniki-Moderator's picture

TASM, I think that's a steal in lots of places! Two fast food meals cost about that much. *dash1*

My Mom made those cookies sporadically, but we always had them at Christmas. <3

To Chef's male menopause moods.  A part of which is due to an old house he has been working on that we bought a couple years ago for a song.  He has been taking down ancient plaster and lathe to expose the very good condition brick walls.

It's not at a place where I can do my thing yet which is great.  I am enjoying puttering around the house however Chef and his moods are friggin' annoying!

EFF off to the constant babysitting that you have to do as far as bills, utilities, etc, etc.  Seems no one has any consciousness of detail oriented anymore nor could they care less.  You have to follow up on everything!

I recently made Kitchen Sink cookies.  They must be pretty good because Chef is eating them.

Aniki-Moderator's picture

Can you give Chef some Midol, thinkthrice? Wink

I googled those cookies. Do yours have pretzels and chips in them?

thinkthrice's picture

I used a recipe that had combo suggestions 2 1/2 cups of add ins.   I used two types of chocolate and walnuts so not too "kitchen sink."

Eff off to sleeping wrong. I have a crick in my neck so bad I can't hardly turn my head to the left. Hurts so bad I feel like I'll pass out.

Aniki did your mom have that Peg Bracken I Hate To Cook Book?? My mom did - its mine now - and that recipe is in there!! Those are yummy yummy cookies!!

Eff0ff Friday.

Eff0ff:  To my DW's STBX employer. After 4.5 years of toxic environment, inept leadership, and stressing herself to the point of her immune system collapsing, two bouts of pneumonia, two bouts of shingles, and now a stress induced heart contition she finally sent her notice Friday evening.  Her last day is Feb 10. Her first day at her new firm is March 1.

F0rn:  Not sure what our Foodie Side of Life adventure will be this weekend.  So far, we had brunch at the Cracked Egg late this AM after our every Saturday IP weigh in. Just had home made low carb chili for dinner.  Yummy stuff.  We made it together.  My favorite way to cook!!!

As for my favorite cookie(s).  Mom. Mom cookies.  She makes a killer Chocolate Chip, an amazing oatmeal (one of Dad's favorites), a luscions Sour Dough (Dad's absolute favorite that his mom used to make), a Date bar that is probably my favorite, and so many others.

Sadly, I can't eat them.  My disease does not let me enjoy mom's baking wizardry any longer.  The memories of her mastery are beyond eating anyone elses baking... except my incredible Bride's low Carb magic.  She makes muffins, a bundt cake, cheddar bisquits, dinner roles, and several other baked cuinary masterpieces that let us enjoy a diverse menu without blowing up our collective scale or my blood sugar.  Thank you my dear.

Happy Week End Everyone!

Regards,

Rags

Congratulations to your DW on her new job!

I like dates. The best was a meringue type cookie with bits of date.

Rags, I'm sure there are good cookies out there you can have. Start googling! Biggrin
