What would you do with BM's wedding dress?

This past weekend MIL & FIL cleaned out their storage building with DH’s help. In the process they found BM’s wedding dress. DH told them to get rid of it, but, MIL told DH that it is mine to do with as I please (she made a few funny suggestions involving sharp objects and fire). My inner evil self grins and has all kinds of ideas on what to do with this…..but another part of me says it really is not mine and I need to do the right thing. And I truly do want to slap that part of me that says I need to do the right thing, BM has done everything she can to make our lives hell, everything she can to PAS both SD’s (and it is working). She has called me and my bio’s nasty names, practically threw a party last year when YSD12 was kinda sorta involved when my BS14 got his arm broke….Long story short she is horrible in many ways. So why do I feel the need to do the right thing?

What would you do?

Put it on a mannequin, cover it in blood, dress her up as Carrie on the front lawn for Halloween. Smile

Donate it to goodwill or a charity that accepts bridal gowns. In other words, get rid of it in a nice way that'll help someone.

You know what the right thing to do is..... give it back to her.

Even though she is a POS, you will be able to sleep with yourself at night knowing you didn't dirty dog anyone.

When my ex and I got divorced we sold and both moved out of the house we shared, while I was packing I came to the book shelf which held all my wedding stuff. The wedding bood I put up and gave it to our kids, told them if they wanted to keep it they could if they wanted to get rid of it they could. The rest of the stuff, the cake topper, the cake knife and server, a candle from the center piece, my dress, veil, and his tie I put on a table at a flea market and posted a sign that said free to who needs them, may your marriage be blessed and longer than mine. Hope this helps with wedding expenses.
Walked away and never looked back.

Why on Earth would MIL say it was yours to decide what to do with?

I would put it right back on MIL, it was in her & FIL's storage building. Next best thing would be to let DH get rid of it, one way or another.

Yeah, I guess I kind of see MIL was trying to be all "solidarity!" with you but it isn't up to you to dispose of it. It's up to her, it was in HER storage unit. I'd probably just write a VERY short note "Thought you might want to save this for the girls" and send it to BM. Take the high road here. Kids might be PAS'd but someday maybe they will stop to think "Hey, if she was that bad why did she send mom's wedding gown back?"

Thank you guys for your replies, I think I am gonna go with just sending it to BM. My inner evil chick might not like it but in the end if I did destroy it I think I would feel bad about it.

What I would do is not let MIL give me some random wedding dress to deal with. Ridiculous.

Halloween is coming up. Walking Dead bride costume maybe? Bride of Frankenstein? Corps Bride? Redneck Bride? }:) }:) }:)

Donate it to Good Will and get the tax write off.

Give it back to MIL and tell her to deal with it herself.

She didn't want to do it, so she shoved it off on you.

I love the Halloween ideas...I really REALLY do.....and the Bonfire Guy dressed as a zombie bride......however my conscience would slap me one....so I would send it back with SD's to BM......
