Best simple baby gift

If you could pick one item ($20 or under) you had or wished you had during your child's first 3 months, what would it have been?

I have 3 women in my office all expecting babies within 10 days of each other.

One is having a boy, one girl, and one unknown.

One woman is orthodox Jewish, so a lot of traditional "just for mom" gifts aren't really appropriate for her (she doesn't do coffee, chocolates, pedicures, etc).

not a mom, but im pretty sure i would want a nice bottle of Vodka. but that would be more than $20.

You can make an inexpensive basket of little necessities, like the nose bulb thingy, little nail clippers, bottle washer thingys, that sort of thing that can get overlooked. Ya know, all the thingys.

A gift of time is often helpful. Create a coupon stating that its good for say 4 hours of babysitting for when she wants to go out to dinner or whatever with her husband.

blankie with an animal head. Babies love these things.
super cute outfit
sleepsack - greatest invention ever
little hat and sunglasses and sandals if due in summer.
not very fun but - a bag of diapers or canister of formula. It gets so expensive!

don't forget a little trinket for siblings!

Target, Starbucks or Walmart gift cards always come in handy.

Or a gift certificate for a picture package.

Or a gift certificate for a photo book.

Medicine is also nice too: teething tabs, tylenol...

Diapers and wipes

I would buy a boppy pillow; its one of the first items I will be buying when I get pregnant!

lmao I'm with you, why should you get a reward for becoming a sibling?

The gift is I'm not giving you an eviction notice. }:)

Being a new mom with a 1 month old- I know! Bottles (only if u know the brand she uses), diapers, wipes, soothie pacifiers! Maybe even some remedies - gas drops, baby saline nasal spay, gripe water, things like that.

Also dinner! It was so nice when people dropped off dinner for us :)could be cheap like lasagna or baked ziti.

Diapers, baby laundry detergent and wipes are the best gift. They go so fast and they get costly. Or cloth diapers if someone will use those.

Size 3 diapers, wipes, thermal receiving blankets (great for swaddling!), the book The Happiest Baby On The Block, season appropriate clothing in larger sizes for when the baby is older.
