BM agrees to stipulations and tells how she found out we were preggo
BF gave instructions to his lawyer several months ago that if BM would provide proof of employment and allow an official to inspect her home, he would drop the custody lawsuit. BM finally got her lawyer to talk to BF's lawyer, and talked to BF about it today. She agreed to do both things, and so now all they need to do is agree on who will perform the inspection. Apparently when BF's lawyer was talking to BM's lawyer, he mentioned that we are expecting again and that it was never BF's intention to lower the CS payments when he had subsequent children so BM is only hurting herself by keeping the CS case open in court. They were going to drop her payment after our first child, and will drop it even further after this child is born. Still, according to BF, BM will not drop her CS case though I can't for the life of me understand the logic behind that.
I am wondering if she received these instructions months ago and is just now acting like she knows about it to have given herself all this time to clean her house and get everything up to par. Honestly I would be very pleased if her house was in acceptable condition now and stayed that way. From the accounts of BF, SS, MIL and others, her house is a health hazard and a very unsafe place for a child to live. I will be interested to see how this investigation turns out.
BF suggested having DCS(our state's CPS) do the investigation to which I immediately groaned...he asked what my problem was. I said I think we've been proven to several times over that DCS is useless and they couldn't care less what the condition of BM's house was or they would have gotten into it when they were investigating it the first time. He said OK then, DCS and a sheriff, whatever it takes to get someone in that house that the court will recognize and allow to testify. I am pessimistic about the outcome of this "investigation"...if it's anything like what we've been through in the past, they'll drag it out for a couple of months and then drop it due to noncompliance on BM's part.

What a pain this has turned into.
Is it good that at least she is agreeing at this point? Is there a chance it will be over soon?

We all knew she would agree
She will do anything to keep SS from BF as much as she possibly can, and when faced with a way to get out of turning custody over to him, of course we knew she was going to take it. Now whether she lives up to her end of the bargain or not, that's still a 50-50 shot. Personally I completely believe that she's going to drag out the investigation for months claiming that every time they come to look at her house she's "just about to leave" or just not answer the door like she's done in the past.
Sadly I have a feeling that this is far from being over.

It's to bad they can't do a
It's to bad they can't do a surprise inspection! Especially if she's been known to drag her feet before. Another idea might be if she allows you to enter her home while waiting for SS then "pretend" like you want a picture of SS and her together for him but get it in an area to show a huge mess or whatnot! Just an idea!!! Good luck.
RE:
She doesn't let anyone enter her home. She hasn't in years. The only two people who have been in her home for at least 4 years are SS and BM. BF isn't even allowed to look through the door - it is only opened far enough for SS to squeeze through and close it behind him if BF goes up to the door to get him. Usually they are both outside waiting for BF when he gets there so he never has to go up to the door.
