Update to Blended Family Dinner
Forums:
Well, our blended family dinner went OK. Both Skids, 1 boyfriend, BM, her BF, and his 2 adult kids, SO and I. Of course, skid picked out a very expensive restaurant. BM was pretty much under control overall. Didn't do any 'remember when...' stories to speak of. Did say something to SO about a 'toy' they had bought one of the skids, but SO just shook his head and said I don't remember. But otherwise pretty uneventful! Of course, we BOTH, SO and I, got big hugs from her when we left. Another one down!

Glad the EVENT wasn't as
Glad the EVENT wasn't as painful as it could have been. Nice to see everyone playing nicely. You get kudos for doing it. Place it in the box of "culturally appropriate things," or "buying good karma."

It was a birthday dinner for the 20 year old! We do this twice a year for the girl's birthdays. It's not my favorite thing to do, but I endure it for my SO. I don't think the kids care either way. If you've read my bio you will see I have five step sons from my prior marriage (we were married for 22 years). So I guess I got used to the 'blended family thing'. There were a few XMAS's that my ex and his GF, me and my SO, ex's ex (BM)(in earlier years, her DH), step sons and family, my DD all got together and everyone was always civil and we actually had a good time. So I guess I got used to is over the years with step sons, so don't mind twice a year for SO's kids. Also, I still see my steps sons and my step grandchildren. My ex has passed away, but I still occasionally see their BM if she is over for holidays when I am. Don't get me wrong, the BM's in my life have caused some shit, but nothing directly toward me. So I guess that made it easier!
