Innapropriate clothing for SDs

step.life's picture

Do some BMs just strive to turn their daughters into trashy girls. I think that this bathing suit is horrible and can't believe it was even made, but the parents who buy it are even more disturbing. SD9 has this, compliments of her BM. All I can imagine purchasing this is "let me display you to creepy old men and turn you into a stripper"

I just can't agree that fishnet clothing is ok to put on a child. It's not the 2 piece part that creeps me out.

But it says mesh in the description. :?

size chart
Two-piece swimsuit keeps her cool and able to swim freely
UPF rating of 50+ protects her skin from the sun
Bright pattern and mesh detail keeps her trendy

Seems ok. Everything is covered. Sure stomach isn't but no biggy. I think it's mesh fabric not fish net.

I don't see anything wrong with it. As long as it fits the kid, it looks like a cute design.

I think that maybe you are sexualizing it because the mesh reminds you of fishnet stockings.

Same here. The mesh looks kind of trashy for a little girl. Otherwise, I don't see a problem with it. There was a little girl at the pool over the weekend, I'd say around 10 years old, who was wearing a bikini that had a top made out of two little triangles. Think a slice of Kraft cheese cut into two triangles. The bottom wasn't much bigger. Now THAT was disturbing!

The top is fine. It's trendy to have mesh and lace details. The bottoms is a little much with the sides. I personally prefer the rash guard tops but I don't have a daughter to cover up. Just two little lobster turning boys.

My YSD had go go boots and fishnet stockings and my MIL let her wear them to church when she was about 7. I was surprised but not my monkey and all. I did make the girl go change when she came out of her mothers in a skirt that was so small it showed her underwear when she sat down. I know BM sent it because she was hoping she would get new clothes with us...lol.

My girls won't be in anything similar to that for a while. For me it's not about sexualizing them... it's about realizing there are some sick sick people in the world who will sexualize them regardless of what they're wearing... and if it's between a couple young girls where one is wearing a full suit and one is wearing a 2 piece... it's the 2 piece that will attract their attention. For me it's about minimizing the risk.

That said... I don't have an issue with it if they wear something like that in the backyard etc... but they're not going out in public with it.

what if the next one is a little girl... blond hair and blue eyes and screaming on top of her longs she wants a small bikini.... you will buy it Lady you will buy it lol

Ok...At first I thought you were being a little prudish. Until someone mentioned the mesh on the bottoms adn I had to go look again. Oh heck no!! That is terrible for a child to wear. GAG.

Exactly. And if you scroll through all the other options at Target, the rest seem fine. It's just disgusts DH and I with all the other cute options available, BM buys the trashiest looking one. Not trendy or appropriate for that age at all!

I think it's a horrible swim suit for a child.

We don't allow our girls to wear bikinis. No bikinis and no short shorts. DH's rules, and I agree. We by the tankinis with the boy short bottoms for them. I still remember the first time SD came to out house with a tan line from a VERY tiny bikini. DH was livid! She was 3 years old and BM has out her in a string bikini. The type she was wearing is in the link below. Little girls shouldn't wear things like that.

Same here just got a tankini this year for SD and no short shorts. BM buys small bikinis and lets sd buy the shortest tightest shorts that are labeled 4 sizes too small, then SD rolls the shorts up. Sickening.

The third picture is insane - she's standing with her arm behind her head and her hip cocked out.

WHY????

Sheesh. and, no, this bathing suit is not appropriate - the mesh doesn't need to be there.
