Dear Valued Users,
It's with a heavy heart that we announce the permanent closure of StepTalk.org on August 31st, 2025.
This decision wasn't an easy one. For over twenty years, StepTalk has been a source of support for stepparents around the world! However, over the years, the costs associated with maintaining and upgrading the site to remain secure, meet current standards and maintain availability have become unsustainable.
We are incredibly grateful for your support, contributions and the community you've helped us build. Your engagement has made StepTalk.org a special place and we cherish the memories and connections made here.
We would especially like to thank Aniki for volunteering to be a moderator and for caring so much.
Thank you for being a part of our journey and we wish you all the best.
Sincerely,
Dawn and The StepTalk Team

I'm sure I would have lived like that but my mother did not allow it.

I was a messy kid...but no food in the room at all. Not even water.
Now, I keep the common areas Clean, almost all the time. Right now there are Legos in the dining room and they are making me Crazy! Private areas, like bedrooms...well, they vary greatly. But the master BR is pretty straight.

My sister was very bad as a kid but no way my mother would let it get to the level of trash, discarded food, dirty clothes and sheets/bedding as my Sd12 (and ASS) does. In fact, I'd be ok to overlook if there wasn't the rotting food and household dishes issue (I.e. No cereal bowls for anyone but SD12).
It's and extreme and when it starts affecting anyone .else in the house, it's crossed a line.

I have to confess, even at 14 I was a compulsive neat freak :? 26 years later I am even worse. I told my mom about some of what I've read here. She said never in all my teens did anyone know I was on. My room was spotless, I was clean and washed my hair daily, I always tidied up behind myself. I always did my chores and was not asked more than once. I seldom back talked my parents and when I did, I had a valid reason.
What I did not do:
- Study
- Enough homework
- Bond with my family
Im hoping my new label
Im hoping my new label machine will bring about a growing up.
I would love to be tidy.
Again, no filth, just disorganised.
