I hate mothers like that who
I hate mothers like that who call and come in for ever little sniffle and sneeze!
Its a virus! We can't help you, now your speading it, GO HOME!
Exactly!!!
Exactly!!!
LOL. Mine goes tot he ER for
LOL. Mine goes tot he ER for EVERYTHING!! I scrapped knew, a runny nose. And it's always URGENT and SO should drop everything and come running.
Me anything over 103 that will not come down with Advil/Motrin. Also my Ped says rule if thumb is 103 for more then 2 days.
I know we've never met, but
I know we've never met, but I'm glad I don't fit into that category of people you can't stand..yes, I'm a SAHM and we have DH's insurance (we also had his insurance when I worked because his was better) but I refuse to constantly have my kids in the ER for every little thing. It's a waste of money and a waste of the Doctor's/nurses time when they could be treating seriously sick patients. I've had mine in the ER a few times, my oldest bio (14) went when he was a newborn because I thought something was awfully wrong with him..high fever for 3 days and I'm glad I took him..ended up being a double ear infection, and he also went about 5 years ago for a broken arm. My 10 year old has had one trip to the ER (also when he was an infant) on his doctor's orders because he had a really nasty contagious virus. But I understand you're frustration. People who do dumb things because someone else is paying for it
My kids what we have here
My kids what we have here called Kid Care. I work but for family insurance coverage it would consume more then half of my check. To me it's still not free health care because I WORK and pay my state taxes.
Skids go for every little
Skids go for every little thing. BM tried to get DH to take OSD to the ER, the freaking ER! Because 'her vagina was itchy'. Thought it might be a UTI. I about lost my shit, and we ended up taking her to a child targeted urgent care. It was nothing. They chalked it up to a warm day and her not washing properly.
They are on antibiotics almost every time I see them, it's unreal. And no, she doesn't pay a dime for medical care...
Monkey, antibiotics break my
Monkey, antibiotics break my vagina too!
They checked for yeast
They checked for yeast infection too. Nothing. Thing was, her younger sister actually DID have a UTI about a week before, and OSD does not like for her sister to get any extra attention, so... :O
They aren't going to the er.
They aren't going to the er. Just urgent care but still. You don't go to the dr for a fever of 99.5. For all we know they could have got out of the hot shower an she shoved a thermometer at them..
My son had pneumonia and we did take him to the er. He had a fever of almost 104 for 5 days before I could talk anyone into antibiotics.
He had a fever of 101 and my mom had him and I said absolutely not this is day 1 of a fever they are gonna say it's viral .. Once it it hit 103 I said now you can take him.. They still said allergies and viral..
I don't get these people that
I don't get these people that run to the ER for every little thing...I LOATHE the ER and only go when it's truly an emergency. All the hours of waiting, all the sick people sitting around you...who's got time for that? These crazy bitches who run to the ER for every hang nail or sneeze piss me off because the are taking time away from the actual emergencies. Call your kid's doctor or the nurse advice line first, don't back up the ER with your hypochondriac bullshit.
She told DH that the kids
She told DH that the kids told her we all had strep.. BINGO.. There her reason to go.. Did we have strep no..
My husband's kids have
My husband's kids have several doctors that they see regularly: allergy doctors, pediatricians, dentists, orthodontists, counselors. SS had 2 doctor's appointments last week and one counseling session. None of this happens with DH's blessings. Both kids are loaded up on meds all the time. BM is a hypochondriac and I would even suspect Munchausen by proxy.
They also overuse antibiotics. This is such a dangerous practice but BM has no problem finding docs dispensing them like pez candies for every little sniffle or cough (as if THOSE things even require antibiotics). I'm to the point where I hope they get C diff. from it. After they are 18 of course.
Bum was investigated for
Bum was investigated for this!! They said it's real hard to prove so they never could go forward with it..
I know we wouldn't be able to
I know we wouldn't be able to prove it either. She doesn't even use the same doctor all the time. Every time DH asks them questions about their doctor's appointments, they say they are going to a new pediatrician. So even if the docs were ethical and started noticing her hypochondria it's not like they would be able to follow it for more than a few months. I guess then it would be up to her insurance provider to catch on and investigate. I'm sure it is next to impossible to prove something like this.
DSS was investigating all
DSS was investigating all their dr visits ..
I'll admit, I just took my
I'll admit, I just took my BS10 to urgent care (his regular doc was out of the office today and the other pediatricians were booked up)...but (and this is a big but), He's been ill for 3 days..so I didn't just go on a whim. His fever wasn't high today but his throat hurts so bad he can't swallow. I hate doctors, er's, insurance, the whole dang thing..so yeah, even though I'm a BM (and SM) I won't take my kiddos to the doctor unless it's a scheduled appointment such as a physical, or to the ER unless it's just that, and emergency, or ordered by a regular doctor..like when my BS14 broke his arm.
That's different .. Your kid
That's different .. Your kid didn't just come home to you yesterday and say so and so was sick.. And magically he woke up today and u said hey let me check your temp !!! Ooooh it's 99.5!!' Doctor here we come!!!
Yeah, I'm very lucky that
Yeah, I'm very lucky that even my bio-kids hate doctors offices and hospitals, so we don't have to frequent them. I know when my skids were younger, they were going to the doctor 5-6 times a month. And since they're on my DH's insurance, and he has to pay half of all medical costs not covered by insurance, I use to think that BM was taking them for nothing, just to have to make DH pay..but then I got to thinkin well, she has to pay half too so that makes no sense..so now I just think the skids were hypochondriacs lol..
It's the same with DH and BM
It's the same with DH and BM with insurance and bills .. However she doesn't pay her half the bills, won't give DH a copy of the bills, and has it in her head that if he can show they get sick when they are with us and we send them to her sick somehowbshebwill get custody..
BM let the skid stay home
BM let the skid stay home with a fever (and I use that term incredibly loosely) of 99. Yes. 99.
Another dad asked him at a game why he hadn't been at practice and the skid said because he had had a fever of 99.
Bless this dads heart because he gave a huge snorting laugh and told skid that that's not a fever.
Oh yeah, then there are the
Oh yeah, then there are the ER visits.
These are the highlights from their multiple visits:
SD went to the ER for throwing a tantrum. BM couldn't control her as she was screaming, running around the house, knocking things over, and throwing things at her mom. Suuuuuure lady, the ER sounds like the obvious answer to that behavior problem. /snark.
SS went to the ER when he bruised his leg from skateboarding. It was so obviously not broken but he had X-rays anyway.
I took DD only if the fever
I took DD only if the fever spiked above 101 for an extended period and did not drop with medication.
104. Or stitches. Otherwise
104. Or stitches. Otherwise it can wait. Once we took BS5 for a fever of 102.5 because he had it for two days and soonest doc appointment would be in 12 days!
I can clearly remember having
I can clearly remember having a temp higher than 103 at school. The nurse had a do-over because she thought it had to be a mistake. My father was called (my mom to this day doesn't drive) and he showed up just before school was ending (this was in the morning when I reported to the school nurses office). I was then taken home, given a "cold washcloth for my forehead" and put to bed. I was literally seeing things coming out of the walls (delirious) but my parents were of the old European school where they didn't medicate because a fever meant the body's immune system was working.
Surprisingly, I lived.
I called my sons pediatrician
I called my sons pediatrician last year bc his fever was 103 or 104 and it was only going down to 101-102 with medicine and it was a slow drop and he was having it every 2 hours .. The doc said make sure he drinks and bring him in the morning ... It was the flu
I have a 22 and a 15 year
I have a 22 and a 15 year old. I have never taken them to the hospital for a fever.
They have never been to the ER...knock on wood...just normal doctor appointments.
99.5 is nothing. Stay home, watch some tv and have plenty of fluids. Go back to school once you have not had a fever for at least 15 hours. No need to sure your virus with other kids.
She had plans to go out of
She had plans to go out of town this weekend so I'm thinking she just didn't want to take them to school or pick then up so she could leave earlier so hey let's make them be sick .. I get a dr excuse for work and I can go in my trip early .
Yep. BM was a textbook
Yep. BM was a textbook example of Munchausen by Proxy. She rushed SD to the ER at every little discomfort. I can't even count how many ER doctors had to explain to BM that SD-infant-at-the-time just had to fart. BM insisted on 2nd opinions. BM even scheduled an allergy appointment when SD was only 3 yrs old. The appointment included scratching SD's back then exposing her to potential allergies. When we got full time custody, SD told us all this story with tears in her eyes and how horrible all those doctor visits were during the first 5 years of her life!
We have SD's medical record from age 0-5 yrs old and it's thicker than my BD25! But since SD has been with us fulltime, there have been ZERO doctor visits, other than regular vaccinations. LOSER BM.
When DH and I started dating
When DH and I started dating and first got married BM would take them to the dr as soon as she picked then up from us. Tell the doctors they had been sick with us and we refused to take them to the doctor. Nothing wrong with them.. Once she called after the kids had been with us 3 days and asked the youngest how his toe was and if it still hurt. Of course he said yes it did real bad. So she told him to tell us he needed Tylenol. When DH asked for what he said my toe.. It hurts real bad. We looked at it & DH said it's not red or swollen, looks normal to me & you haven't said anything about it all week, i think you're fine..she went crazy screaming over the phone, kept calling and calling.. As soon as she got them the next day she called screaming that his tie was infected and took him to the doctor for an "ingrown toenail" .. Dr said it's fine .. Soak it if you want
Oh umm see I have to admit
Oh umm see I have to admit rushing my first born to the ER. She had colic + reflux and was projectile vomiting all over me. I was clueless and didn't even think to check temperature. That is my claim to fame of wasting ER time.
You are allowed one crazy
You are allowed one crazy trip with your first lol... These kids are aren't little .. 4 years ago I had a stack of 50+ emails where she said they are sick and going to the doctor.. This was in a 6 month period .. She only has them half the week!
I need a second crazy visit
I need a second crazy visit but to the pedi with my youngest. She's not crawling at 8m 3 wks, so I was scared she had Chucky's cognitive problems. :O
