Reintroducing Overnight Visits

sonja's picture

Oh help me.. the time is near.

SD7 hasn't spent the night at our house in probably 1-1.5 years... Continuous screaming/tantrums and making herself puke every time resulted in psyc visits and it was recommended that we wait till this phase pass. In the past couple weekends we have just started having her come over for the day (DH was just spending the day with SD in skidtown and then come home and go back the next day on his weekends with her).

I can tell her temperament has definitely calmed, the last couple weekends that we've done 1 full day of her at our house wasn't disruptive. Her and my DS4 get along. She is able to be with us for the day without whining/crying for BM.. improvement there!

I suggested to DH that we go to 2 full days of her at the house, where we don't have days filled with fun activities that revolve around her. I think its important for her to see we have a life too and just because shes there doesn't mean we don't have errands to run and cleaning to do etc. That was a mistake in the past as shes older than our bios.. she was used to weekends being ALL ABOUT HER.

Also- as she no longer has a bedroom I'm hoping for suggestions on how to make an overnight visit work at our house. I'm highly against letting her stay up at late as she wants with the tv on in the living room, but I know DH is going to want to give in and not make any rules.

She can either sleep on the couch with the tv OFF or she can sleep on a cot/blow up mattress in one of her siblings' rooms.
