Child support rant.

MidwestStepmom's picture

I opened up a letter I had received at work. It was the state trying to collect child support on one of my so called employees. This employee never shows up to work and when he does he always asks to go home early. I just need him to show up now so I can hand him his termination papers. Anyways it was for $50 a month! And $10 for back child support. How is a child to survive on that? And this employee is now getting termed because of not showing up to work. He is so irresponsible. Makes me so angry, if you have a child at home, you should do everything in your power to support that child. I hate my job, but I make a lot of money, I could be a single mom and still give BS a really good life.

This is just rotten, people need to not spread there legs or plant there seed if there not ready for the outcome. Keep it shut!

At $50 a month, this employee apparently has CS orders for other children as well because the least the courts will base the child support on is a minimum wage job.

Very sad that some people will make babies with no consideration to how THEY'RE going to take care of them!

Look at that 31 year old man in Tennessee who has just about as many kids as he is old and some of the CS orders for the younger ones are as low as a couple of dollars a month!

It is really sad that some people can be irresponsible like that. Hopefully his childs BM is able to provide enough for this poor kid without a lot of help.

Unfortunately it's not always just the dads that neglect to provide.

My SD's BM chooses to not work and live off of her husbands minimum wage job and CS and government assistance. It drives me nuts when parents dont step up!

Ha seriously! We've never gotten a penny from BM1 for the 2.5 years that SD16 has lived with us. DH was going to take her for CS, but like you said, figured it'd be losing battle since she has no job, no life, already gets every freebie known to man AND we live in NYS where vaginas rule no matter what when it comes to family court and CS.

The BM I have to deal with has been ordered to pay $78 a week for 3 kids and has no job and currently in jail and we know we will never see a dime of CS from her.

Our state, when someone is so far in arrears they lock them up for weekends and give them the week to find a job. I recently found out from SIL that they are enforcing it. Her BD is doing weekends again now. I was told they are doing this BC so many were taking under the table jobs so the wages wouldn't be garnished.

But... Hopefully she just stays where she's at for a while }:)

justtired - sounds like my dh's situation. 3 kids - he paid over 700/m for years and years, plus loooaaads of extras (sports equipment, even used, is NOT cheap). now he's got custody, she's ordered 35/wk. yeah, like the kids will ever see even a penny...

When DH was paying support on 3 oldest SKs to BM1, he was paying about $700 a month. Now that DH has all kids BM gets to pay a huge amount of 17 a month. DH has more children now and a lower paying job. The system sucks.

I used to do payroll years ago for a temp agency. So most of the employees were not the model type (obviously since they were temps) I would get a stack of CS orders every month from DSS and there were 2 that I will never forget... there was one guy who had FIVE different orders from FIVE different women and then there was the guy who had 2 orders from 2 different women and the one order he was $98,000.00 in arrears!! I was surprised the man was even bothering to work, although I think he ended up in jail on a probation violation so he wasn't going to "catch up" anytime soon.

Like you said, keep your damn legs shut and your fly zipped for cripes sake!

I never got any CS from my two ex-hubbys either. I'm thinking this guy WAS on social services at one time because that sounds like a "pass through" amount.
