Does this annoying conversation ever happen to you?
Here's how it went:
SS12: Dad, are you going to ever going to load that gift card onto my Kindle?
DH: I never said anything about loading a gift card.
SS12: Well I need a gift card to buy aps.
DH: No.
SS12: You can get gift cards on Amazon for as low as 15 cents. That way, I can at least buy some aps. Some free aps, at least.
DH: No.
SS12: Here, look, dad, gift cards for 15 cents.
DH: No! I said I wasn't going to get you one, now let it go! And what's the point of paying 15 cents for a gift card for FREE aps? Just so you can win?
SS12: Well I didn't hear you say no, I thought you said maybe. It's hard to hear you all the way over here at the table! (The table is about 7 feet away from where DH was standing, by the way.)
Here's what I wanted to say:
SS12: It's hard to hear you all the way over here at the table!
Me: For serious, SS12?!? I think your ears just have trouble hearing the word "no." In fact, I think your brain doesn't actually process that word and "maybe" is the closest it ever will come.
So annoying...

Terrorists, teenagers, same
Terrorists, teenagers, same thing. When the skids are at my house, it goes to Threat Level Red the second I hear them exit the vehicle.
Bm let's ss15 on Xbox live
Bm let's ss15 on Xbox live and some online PlayStation crap. No supervision. No time restrictions ( he has to have the headphones on after 11pm.... are you for real, why is he still up at 11... much less playing this violent garbage)
Not in our house. They have 2 hours each per day on the console. Stand alone. Not online. Their choice how its used but it does not bank ie; time not used today doesn't carry over. And it has to be used before 9pm.
Its not about setting rules for them, or parenting them, its about the atmosphere and influence WE want in OUR home.
Homicidal rampages are not part of that.
Apart from anything else I have a real problem with his disconnect from reality. I do NOT like the type of realistically violent games he plays. And when they come here its not for a games binge, its supposed to be for quality time with Dad.
Needless to say I'm an evil witch for this rule. Am I bothered?
Nuuuup }:)
I am super glad we don't do
I am super glad we don't do the Xbox live thing. I don't even think the skids have tried that before, they mostly just use it to watch Netflix (which is under MY control since it's my account...which is why they aren't watching it this weekend, LOL). Then again, they're only 12 and 14, so maybe in a year or two I might be singing a different tune.
