O/T- Microwave Cleaning Trick that Works Wonders

FDH just gave me a hard time because I left some exploded Italian meatloaf remnants in the microwave for several days. Hey, depression is fun and MY how tables have turned. That man had the dirtiest microwave EVER when I met him. Anyway, I decided to get off the internet and clean it up. I suddenly remembered this easy idea that is unbelievably awesome.

You take a bowl of water, add a drop or two of dishwashing liquid and then some white cider vinegar. Place it in the microwave and turn it on for 2-3 minutes. It loosens all the hardened splatter up and you just wipe out easily with a rag or papertowel. The longest part is waiting for the microwave to beep.

So if you Skids who refuse to eat good meals get hot pocket crap all over your microwave, teach them how to do this!

I learned that from some show with these two old British ladies who go to crazy people's houses and clean them. They have amazing tricks. This was one of the few I actually remember. But SO effective.

I still need to unpack some too. But it's pretty much just the skids rooms that they infrequently use and he doesn't seem to care so why should I? Less to pack for the next move.

Glad it can help you. At one point in my life, before FDH and his litter, I lived with another crowd of people. Those people were my son and all his friends. When they hit teen years I had a house full of messy assholes who pretty much all lived there (I did not date or subject anyone to this). The microwave was a constant nightmare with all those hungry boys. When I learned this one, it saved me from insanity.

WOW. Way to re-use! Awesome. I actually saved the mix tonight and also wiped down my counters with it.

The two small detergent drops help take out the elbow grease factor. You need an emollient to make it easier which is why the soap drops help. I am sure you are aware though.

Another really easy way is to microwave a wet sponge. It disinfects your sponge and loosens the dirt at the same time.

I do this also, especially after a skid weekend.....boys never clean up after themselves.

I use my handy-dandy hand held STEAM CLEANER!! No SM, IMHO, can do without the following items:

1. steam cleaner
2. microfibre wipes
3. bleach
4. lysol

I don't wash my floors, I use my steam mop. BEST investment ever. I don't use a lot of cleaners as SS10 has asthma. I use the steam mop to go over the carpets and beds monthly also.
