BM's trial

Which was supposed to be April 1, 2013 got post poned to yesterday. I really figured it would just get post poned again.

This was the trial for breaking and entering my home, robbery (the 4 cell phones she took) and contributing to the deliquency of minors (x4).

Her attorney played the 'single mother' card to the hilt. The prosecutor stuck to the facts, to include how many times she violated the RO that the courts have in place. She was offered an Alford plea: basically she does not admit guilt but admits they have enough evidence to find her guilty. She refused. Despite the fact that they offered her a measly six months of probation.

Per her having that on her record would prohibit her from keeping employment. So she rolled the dice with a trial: her attorney's error was likely in asking the trial to be heard by the judge not a jury. She may have found the pity she was looking for in a jury.

Judge just weighed all the facts.

One year county lock up. Followed by four years of probation. She was given until May 1 2013 to report to jail.

Yes and no.

I am over BM. My overall feeling is "just go away" and "I took a day off work for this??"

I feel bad for the skids that their example of motherhood is so messed up.
I feel bad for the skids that their mother... who they love is truly stupid and a bad example in live.
I feel bad for DH because yes he will be stuck dealing with her until she dies or elects to dissappear.

I will admit to a tiny twinge of pleasure however, at the open mouthed shocked expression on her face when the judge announced her sentence.

Oh, my! If she thought probation would hurt her chances for employment, what does she think a year in jail will do?

I know you must be so tired of this. At least this gives you a year without her, maybe to show the skids some kind of normal life.

With time off for "good behavior" and their new way of calculating days, it will likely be 5 or 6 months not a year.

OT but Dog the Bounty Hunter and Beth and especially Leland can all kiss my ass. I was ON that show when I lived in Hawaii and it's all such bullshit. No, I wasn't a fugitive. I was a vet tech at Aloha Animal Hospital when they brought in one of their Belgian Malinois pups. ALL drama and bullshit. What you see on tv is totally NOT what really happened. I DESPISE Leland. He's such a total douche canoe.
