I've never been one to get excited over weddings
...but according to OSS, mommy went to her friend's house one day and mommy's friend asked her to marry him and she said yes.
Oh, and they will probably have to move.
"So I think they're... dating? Is that the right word?"
Fingers crossed its a short engagement (everything else has been at breakneck speed with this one) but I have my doubts. I think logistics (perhaps just reality) will get in the way before common sense or any moral obligation to their respective kids.
This woman is such a miserable, hypocritical, boundary stomping, stage five clinger. We have joked about the universe's need to marry her off for years. The distraction of a man that will tolerate her crap has always been such a huge perk for us. Even when it is short lived.
Inevitable complications for the boys aside, I am oh so selfishly excited about the prospects here.
Not that she will make any mention of it to the people she loves to hate (more realistically hates to love) over here. Nor should she, that itself is none of our business.
But man oh man, this series of events could mean not only a whole new freedom on our end, it would check multiple boxes green lighting significant positive change for the skids under their existing CO.
So I've counted my chickens before they hatch and I suppose the cart is before the horse but whatever. I am, for once in my life, excited about a wedding!

Good luck, I hope it works
Good luck, I hope it works out in your favor.
BM over here has been married 4 times since she and DH divorced, didn't slow her bitch mode one bit.
Wow, FIVE marriages? That's

How does that even happen?? 6 times!?!? Geeezzz
No doubt she convinced every subsequent husband that it
was the mans fault and he bought it
Bitch mode. Ah ha ha. Here
Bitch mode. Ah ha ha. Here there's no mode, just bitch.
The change in demeanor and absent minded cooperation for ours is about the only consistent thing about her.
They don't typically last long, they catch on to her after a little while.
I don't see it getting far. I just like the idea of her getting a taste of her own medicine as an added bonus to things improving for the boys in the counseling and education departments.
This guy will try to stick around for what the red flags seem to indicate as different motives than BM. But by all appearances, they deserve each other.

When we found out BM got married it was a good day for SO and I. She got married last year, didn't tell the skids she was getting married (had been in engaged for probably 2 years though), they found out the next day when she sent pics to them like oh look!
We are guessing though that BM doesn't know that since she is remarried any part of SO's retirement becomes void. We guess when SO goes to retire she will come lurking for money... She will be unpleasantly surprised when she realizes she isn't getting any haha.
Hopefully BM in your case marries and it works out to benefit you guys!

That is awesome.
Happy wedding bells!
I'll have to find some wedding images, what a happy moment! Rice, bridesmaids, bells, flowers!! Congratulations! Lol.

Oh boo, sounds like there's no wedding in the near future.
BM was here this morning to pick skids up for their "vacation" week. Mind you, she was here yesterday for their off-week visit (which is another whole bunch of dumb with this woman). She's made no comments re: remarriage up to this point which is not at all unexpected or an issue. The boys blurted it out basically the second they got in the car for SOs time about a week ago but outside of that, mums the word.
This morning, though, she felt the need to get out of the car, come to the door and stand there with a dumb look on her face before her brain told her hand to get up into SOs face. All without saying a word.
SO: "I know, the boys told me the other day."
BM: (pouty face) "Oh. Well, just so you know, nothing is happening ANY time soon. Its just a promise to have a conversation about it."
(my brains in the kitchen: bwahaha what?)
SO: "None of my business until your conversation results in impacts to the boys."
She got a look on her face, put her hand down (yep, it was up for this whole exchange) and clomped herself back to the car where the boys were already in, buckled and ready to go.
Then she Austin Powers'd her turn around in the driveway by way of a 36-point turn for whatever nonsensical reason and slow rolled, seemingly in neutral, the rest of the way down the driveway. It felt super pitiful or broken or... just out of the ordinary. The polar opposite of her usual take on rage driving.
She's so entertaining to me. I almost feel like a dick for finding her oddities amusing and being so dang judgmental. But she sucks at life and that suckage spills over into mine far more often than it should so... I'm an arsehole, whatever.
This woman needs to be married off. "Wife" was her only identity (despite that literally legally being his wife was the only piece of that identity she actually took part in) and she's floundered ever so, uh, graciously for roughly the last decade.
If this drags on a bit she will have been wrapped up as a bitter ex wife/poor disenfranchised single mother far longer than any other adult identity she's (neurotically) embraced. And that might be a tough one for her to let go of.
I am now even more convinced we are in for a bumpy ride with this one, even out here in the peripheral. Its still amusing to me, though. Perhaps even more so after her declaration.
