My baby is growing up.....
BS turns three on Thursday. It's a good thing I am having another baby, or I would be pretty sad over him growing up so fast.
He has been on a bit of a tangent for a few days that he wants to have the training wheels off of his bike. Not sure what brought it on, but he is quite insistant. I figured that he would just kind of forget about it, but he was in tears last night, asking me to take the twoittle wheels off so his bike will only have two wheels.
It broke my heart so I told him that we would try it this weekend once he turns three. My Dh thinks I am crazy for even entertaining the idea. Is 3 way too young to try learning to ride a bike?
I am proud of him for wanting to try and for his drive to master new things. My Dh hates it and says he is not enjoying his childhood.
When did you start to teach your kids to ride a bike?

I think it is awesome that he wants to try. He may or may not succeed. He may get on it and ask you to put the wheels back on. But he may be a natural. SD8 still can't ride a bike, but the neighbor's little boy learned at 3 or 4. Depends on the kid.
My daughters learned at 7 and

I took them to a park with a grassy hill. More of a slope really. Then they could 'ride' down without having to pedal and just practice steering and balancing and their feet were out not on the pedals for security.
After a handful of rides down they got to put their feet on the pedals - just resting them there.
Then after a handful of those they got to pedal if they wanted and bam - done.
