Grow a pair.
Last night, SD wouldn't get to sleep because the painting in the room outside of hers was scaring her. She wouldn't close her bedroom door, of course, so that she wouldn't see it. So I had to fix the painting for her so it wasn't scary. Then this morning at around 4 AM, she woke up whining "DADDYYYYY" because she had a nightmare. Keep in mind that neither SO or I had gotten into bed until around 3 AM because SO was at work, and I was doing laundry while I had a hot second while she was sleeping. Then just now, at 8:10 AM, in BROAD FUCKING DAYLIGHT, she wakes us up AGAIN to cry about hearing "loud, scary noises" in a COMPLETELY SILENT HOUSE. Again, in BROAD FUCKING DAYLIGHT. We finally figured out that she was referring to the HOUSE SETTLING. Now I'm awake for the day, I have work tonight until after 2 AM, and I'm pissed. Why is this kid such a fucking wuss? Why does she cry and whine for Daddyyyyyyyy for EVERYTHING?

cause she can. unfortunately.

I hate that he isn't
I hate that he isn't establishing any boundaries.
What he needs to do is teach
What he needs to do is teach her how to ask for what she wants and how to do some things, like getting a glass of water, for herself.
I cant stand the open door /
I cant stand the open door / closed door issue. I have closed BS1 door from day 1 of him being in his own room, hopefully to avoid this.
SD4 goes into her room and closes the door a lot to keep the cats out as well as BS1. But when she goes to sleep she will throw the biggest fit ever if you threaten to close the door (I used to use this as a punishment if she kept getting out of bed)...
I know that I used to sleep with my door open, but I didnt have nightlight. To me if you have a nightlight you shouldnt need the door open. (it all pisses me off to no end that she asks why we shut our door!, which is to keep the cats out. We do this when shes not there, so why would we change for when she is?)
But anywho.. the other posters are right, daddy needs to put his foot down to this nonsense!
So is this behavior unusual
So is this behavior unusual for a five year old? Also, she WON'T EVER close the door! And then she bitches to SO and to me to tell me to get the cat out of her room while she's sleeping! Well, close the effing door! And I haaaaate how she says, "Daddy!" and when he says "What?" every time, she always just says "I need you", no matter what it is that she 'needs' him for.
Wow daysleeper! Does this
Wow daysleeper! Does this ever sound familiar!!!! COMPLETELY understand! SS was like this and no mater what, he got whatever he wanted! SS bed is fixed in his room to were he can see down the hall and see everything that is going on. Asks questions yelling down the hall at DH, saying that he cannot sleep etc... I moved SS bed to the other side of his room (so he couldn't see down the hall) one day when DH and SS were gone and cleaned his whole room. SS didn't like his bed on the other side, said that he got scared b/c he couldn't see us-he felt better/safer when he could see us, so DH moved his bed back to the same place. PISSED ME OFF!!!! They kids just want to see everything and stick their noses into OUR business! The whole "Daddy I just need you" thing is extremely irritating!! I soon learned that SDS was doing that when he knew that if he said something or asked something out loud, I would hear it and he wouldn't get his way, but DH would ALWAYS give him his way evn when he told SS that he wasn't! Losing battle! And my SS was older that 5 years old,way older!
