Went to SS's IEP meeting, he is diagnosed with a Cognitive Disability and a very low IQ
Is anyone familiar in this area?
Any information would be helpful, I've been googling and reading the IEP, but would like some input please.

ps. I should add I'm on parents' sides! I work with atty's as a the educational "expert" to support parents in suing schools or in advocating for best practice, less restrictive placements, etc. I believe that system could be a lot different (better, more humane) than it is.

My 20-yr-old son has Down
My 20-yr-old son has Down Syndrome (mental retardation), so I have been dealing with IEPs and the school system for many years. Because I also have a degree in Education and am familiar with the education process, I have also been called upon by many of my friends to be an advocate for their children when they have issues and concerns with THEIR children's IEPs.
Please feel free to PM me as well if you have any specific concerns.
You can also PM me. I have
You can also PM me. I have worked in Special Ed on the Life Skills side as well as the Behavioral End. I also have a 19 year old son with Aspergers. Working on both sides and sitting on both sides of the table in ARDs has given me much insight.
Good luck to you and I am here whenever you need to chat.
