DH received primary custody of SD14 back in October.

SD14 is doing fantastic here, has maintained all A's in all advanced classes in a new school while adjusting to moving in with us. She's had to deal with that drama from her BM who is unhappy about SD wanting to live here. The only thing SD doesn't like (other than BM's dramatic/immature behavior) is that BM picks her up from school so SD can't unload her back pack here after school and pack for her overnight stay with BM, instead she has to lug the extra stuff around school. So, she asked if we could change it so that BM picks her up from our house in the evenings shortly after she gets home from school.

Today was the court ordered status conference to update the Judge on how SD is doing with us. Court was at 9am, DH and I show up at 8:30, DH's lawyer shows up shortly thereafter and BM never shows up! She's usually 15-30 minutes late but she always shows up! Judge gives her some extra time for weather/traffic and then decides she will hear the case without her once our lawyer could prove proper service.

Judge asked DH how SD was doing, he said great, mentioned her grades. Lawyer states that SD has requested the pickup time be changed and her reasons for doing so, Judge says "granted"! Tells our lawyer to write up the modification and she will sign it. We walked out of court today with the modification we requested and no EX drama!

Now the real fun will begin when BM receives a copy of the new order. Our lawyer plans to mail it out the day we get SD back for Christmas break so BM doesn't flip out with her there in her custody.

So if you hear an ear-piercing scream from my neck of the woods in a week or so, don't be alarmed - it's just another crazy BM.

**Important lesson to be learned here - NEVER blow off a court date. Decisions can and will be made without your input!
