True story.

SO: "Who was on the phone?"

Me: "My dad. He wanted to get my mom's phone number or email address because he heard someone from their hometown died."

SO: (looks like he's going to cry)

Me: "What's wrong??"

SO: "He doesn't know her number or email. (wishful sigh) How long before I get to forget BM's?"

Me: (hugs)

LOL My SO & I have had similar conversations. For us, it's 4.5 years for Redneck & 10 years for Nasty.

How old does the kid get to be before this happens.

Just curious. I deleted bm from my phone. SD is an adult ss is 16. If things continue down its current course. I will delete theirs soon too.

I'm assuming it can't happen for SO until the skids are out of college and on their own and holidays hit a pattern of some sort that the skids can work out themselves with BM.

For us this would be about 15 years I think, when SD11 is about 25. I think that's when my parents stopped communicating regularly about me!

CRIPES that is a long time.

We are counting down until CS ends...18 or graduating from HS.

For the SD's, SO is responsible for paying $200.00 once they are out of HS per month IF they are enrolled full time in college, but he's to pay them directly so nothing will go through BM Redneck once they age out or graduate from HS.

As far as Nasty goes...she doesn't talk to SO now about SS9 & SD8 so I don't see us needing to stay in touch with her either once her obligation for CS is fulfilled.

I'm sure there will be weddings & stuff later, but we are waiting anxiously for the first big step to not have ANYTHING to do with the BM's from hell.

Would love the end of support at 18 or out if hs. Paying support on a kid that is 20 and not in college burns my butt!

Ours is June 2012 - when SS graduates from High School - since he is 18 we have had very minimal contact with BM for the past 6 months and it is great!!!
