O/T Nine More Months Till Retirement
Every day confirms my decision to jettison this place as a once pleasant job has turned into the domino effect starting with the ousting of the very efficient administrative assistant by Mrs. Headlights and Dr. Phil.
We have had plenty of turmoil and turn over as the new sheriff was elected in 2018 with the support of all the county workers but have now been thrown under the bus by him. People with decades of experience are leaving early because they are being treated like crap.
The higher ups, especially the sys admins, are treating everyone like dummies and often become condescending to the rest of the IT staff. Now mind you we have some real deadwood that are dangerously unqualified but that causes them to treat the qualified staff equally.
The recent remote working has helped some but time cannot pass quickly enough!!

Well, hopefully things work out for you in this. Financially, but Im sure that emotionally this is the best thing possible.
I was in a horrid work situation and it got me sick. Things are great now...
So, carry on with that countdown! They even have apps for that...:D
Retirement
I had a 33-year career I loved. But the last couple years were very disappointing: ineffective management, bad office politics, vastly changed corporate culture, age discrimination etc. Like you, i began to accelerate retirement plans. I had always loved an office environment, thought that in retirement, I'd get a part-time job elsewhere. Then I retired. It was heaven! Still is! Part-time job? What was I thinking? All I'm saying is, if you are at that "disgusted" stage at work and can afford it, do it! I know this sounds like a cliche you hear over and over but I don't have enough time in the day. My husband I look at each other and say, how did we work? Good luck & have fun!
I "retired" about 6 months
I "retired" about 6 months ago. I was middle management for years and like my job. However...my company was filled with asshole men who did not respect women at all. I learned how to deal with it and train a few of them to mot be so bad. lol. But after 23 years, I was just tired. My DH talked me into "retiring" and it has been great. BBUUUUT I feel busier now than before I retired. How on earth did I get everything done around the house AND still work 45 plus hours a week?!?!
You won't regret retirement!
Like JRI and Willow, I have not looked back nor regretted it and find plenty of things to keep me occupied - or lazy. I even took a cut in my retirement just to get out. I am SO glad I did as the last couple of years I was able to travel and do some things that I always wanted to. No one knows what the future holds (coronavirus, personal illness, etc.) so jump when you get the chance.
