My family is planning a baby shower for me back home (8.5 hours away from where I currently live). The best weekend to have it is the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend. We decided that I will fly there one-way for the Thanksgiving holiday and my mom will drive me and all the baby's gifts to a half-way point after the shower, and my fiance will drive to meet up with us there and we'll all spend a night at a hotel before going back to our homes again.

My mom hasn't met the skids yet. I came up with the bright idea that maybe DF can bring the skids that night we'll meet up and we can stay at a hotel with a water park, then my mom can spend time with them and also with DF (she's always complaining about how she never gets to spend time with us, bc we live so far away...).

DF is going to call BM tonight and confirm with her the Thanksgiving weekend plans. We had them for the day of Thanksgiving last year, and then she took them Fri-Sun. I'm hoping we can just flip that and do the opposite.

She's never allowed us to take them with on our visits back to my home (even though we weren't crushed at their age -- 8-9 hours in a car is a long time for 3 and 5 year olds anyway) and I have a sneaking suspicion it's just her being jealous that was the real reason even though she came up with other excuses.

Cross your fingers that BM is "okay" with having the skids meet MY family!
