Vas reversal worked - I'm pregnant!!!

Stepmom_C's picture

Well, I haven't been on here in a while! First, the site went down, then had some "tween" issues with SD11, then found out after a year and half of trying that I'm pregnant!!

For the new members, DH and I have been married 3 years and I have a BD15, SD11, and SD7 that live with us. We are the custodial household and have had our share of crazy BM stories. For the past year things have calmed down for the most part (about time!) My daughter's father is not involved and we never married so the only "ex" to deal with has been DH's.

In 2007 DH had a vasectomy reversal. I've always wanted to get married and have a baby with my husband when the time was right. So we opted for the reversal and figured it was in God's hands - what's meant to be will be. We had about given up after a year and a half of trying when I found out I was pregnant. So...here I am, 36 years old(YIKES) and expecting again. Last time I was pregnant was 16 years ago!! Hope I remember everything Smile

I so wish I could have another. Tubal reversal not in our future though.

Oh and don't worry. Whatever you've forgotten will come back to you. If my experience holds true...unfortunately it will come back clearer with age!

Goodluck and keep us posted!!!!

Congrats.. how far along are you??? I am 14 weeks 2 days.. and am 35. This will be my first.. maybe we can go through this together/online!!!

Stepmom_C's picture

I'll be 13 weeks on Thursday! Due May 14th. I've read a couple of your posts and have to laugh because everything is bugging me too Wink

Oh yah!! I am due May 3rd...

SOOO exciting. Are you going to find out the baby's gender at the "big" u/s?? Ours is on Dec 1st. I am thinking, HELL YEAH.. then I can plan her room. lol.. See.. I think its a girl, dh thinks its a boy. Only time will tell. Your big u/s must be around mid Dec.

We went out and got maternity clothes last night, as I dont have enough for this weekend. We are flying to NC to see his parents for a surprise (well.. his mom knows we are coming..) FIL is turning 60 this weekend and MIL is throwing him a bday party. We put a pic of the u/s in a grandparent brag book, and that is going to be amongst his gifts. We are very excited about this.. didnt want to just tell them over the phone!

Love the present idea! I'm finding out for sure!! DH wanted it to be a surprise but I'm such a planner and so busy that there's just no way!!! You are correct - mid December. Hoping around the 10th. Have a great weekend trip!

Oh.. and for when we finally tell the skids... our neighbor has this puzzle (12 pieces) that when you put it together it says, we are having a baby.. and its one of those clues ones.. so like the by in baby is a picture of a bee.

we figured it would be fun and interesting way of telling them.. Get them excited. that is our plan.

Have you told your skids yet?

Stepmom_C's picture

We told them when I was about 10 weeks. Figured I'd be 12 weeks before they went back with their mom for visitation and I still don't think they told her yet, which is good! I don't want the drama!

The puzzle idea is cute! The way we told them was DH set an extra plate at dinner that had winnie the pooh on it and told them someone else would be joining us for dinner in about 7 months. It took them a while but then they got it. The 7 year old was the cutest - she was super excited!

Congratulations! I wish I had met my FH 10 even 5 years ago but I am now 40 and he is 48 and I wish I had the chance but we are too old now!:)I am so happy to hear this and that is wonderful news!

I don't know if you have seriously considered and rejected the possibility, but it is not too late for either of you if you really want it. DH was 47 when our first BD was born and 50 when the second BD was born. And 40 is not too old for you!

Look at you Elizabeth, you married and older man!!

Seriously.. I have a neighbor who found out she was pregnant at 42 and her dh was in his 50s. Their 3rd child was a complete surprise, but a lovely one. She is 8 now.

Isn't that funny?! He's 15.5 years older than me, and I had serious second thoughts when I found that out (like on our first date). But, at the time, we were both just having fun. The age didn't become an "issue" until we decided to get married. But he didn't have SD15 until he was 37, so he was a late starter! His age is the primary reason we decided to not have any more, otherwise he'd like one or two more. But he'll be 68 when our youngest graduates from high school, and I'm assuming he'd like to retire at some point.

Funny thing.. I know your sd is 15, so I ASSUMED (yes, I know what it spells, I have seen the Odd Couple) that he was younger. Kind of pictured him that way too. This might now shed some light for me on WHY he is the way he is with SD... if that makes any sense.

Elizabeth's picture

When SD came along, she was a surprise but also probably, to him, his one chance to have a baby. He was 37 and hadn't had any before. Plus, the way he was raised is very old school, as his parents were the youngest of 12 and 13 kids. So that explains QUITE a bit.

I had my little guy the month before my 39th birthday. I had wanted a baby since I was 21 and 18 years later I have him. If money were no object I would have another! I turned 40 this August & would not have it any other way.

I have an employee that is also pregnant and she is 42. Will be 43 when the baby is born! I don't think you're old at all!
