Months ago, like Christmas maybe, my DH says "I'd really like to go to Newfoundland this summer and visit family again. Either all of us or just me and SS16 if you don't want to go." I say sure, we can all go. Just not til August and probably the second half since BS plays football. We'll go see my dad who lives in PEI too. (We were still all one big happy family at this point.)

He tells me that his mother and his aunt want to make it a trip for everyone. No problem, totally fine with me. I mentioned to his mother that this sounds like a great idea and the only stipulation is we have to wait until August.

2 months ago I find out we can go as soon as August 2nd. Tell hubby, he tells his mom and even to my great surprise deals with his ex on the dates. We hear nothing from his mom, except that she's already arranged with BM (not DH) to have SS16 with her at her home at that time. Nothing more about the Newfoundland trip. One month ago I book flights to my dad's and tell my DH we can always adjust them to include Newfoundland after if his mom shares dates but I have to book our flights.

Tonight, just two weeks before we fly to my dad's - DH says "Did my mom message you today? About the trip?"

Nope.

"So do you think we can still go to Newfoundland with my mom?"

Nope.

Crickets.

I tell him, I don't know how much conversation they've been having about this trip but...

"We haven't had any conversation. This is the first time she's written me."

Big shrug from me. Well, it's two weeks away. Kinda too late, don't ya think?!

He's bummed. I care so little I almost couldn't be bothered to post this. But to those of you who have MIL's like this, sometimes it feels good to know you're not alone.
