Can't even work out.

Can't even do a 20 minute insanity video with my gf without the 4 yr old kicking screaming and crying. God forbid she doesn't have full attention for those 20 minutes. After 1 video SD got kneed in the leg, almost kicked 40 times and I am more stressed out Than I was before we worked out. Ahh!!!

That is how most 4 year olds are. My daughter would be right there trying to do it with me. I don't think it hasm uch to do with her needing the attention as much as her wanting to do it too???

She didn't have any interest in doing it, she just wanted to stop us from doing it. We tried to get her to join in. Wasn't happening.

Yep, I feel your pain too. People who need CONSTANT attention are soooo draining!!! And it's not "because she is 4." It's because she is used to getting adult time and attention. Gotta break that habit fast.

This was SD14 all her life. She was constantly babied, coddled and made to believe she was the center of the universe and the world revolved around her.

DH is regretting that now!

Ugh I understand! I try to do a workout in my bedroom a few times a week and BD4 usually comes in and either watches me or tries to do what I am doing. After getting kicked a few times I had to explain to her to stay out of my way or on the bed and not get off. Sometimes she whines and starts asking for things. Thants when I lock my bedroom door and tell her and DD11 the only time you are allowed near my door is if the house is on fire or someone is dead. They got the hint and don't bother me anymore!

Doesn't happen often, but I agree with Cheri on this 100%. That was my first thought after I read the OP's post. Other than just staying fit and maintaining good physical health, working out is also supposed to be a way to de-stress and help you feel better mentally. No way would I work out with skid and I say for you OP, from now on, go solo and get all the benefits of a good workout with out that kind of issue. Let your GF battle her own child during her own workout.

You may find it was a one time ordeal. I have a workout room in our basement with a treadmill and elipticle. Our basement is finished, but we don't have much down there in the way of entertainment for a 3 year old (i.e. TV, toys etc) Sometimes when I go down to work out BS3 is fine with it, he'll come down and "hang out" with me, sometimes he's fine to hang out upstairs with DH, other times he wants to come down and drive me insane!

I think it's just an age thing. Don't give up, try it again, you might be surprised to find it's a non issue this time. Or... just try to do it after SD is asleep or something. I get up in the morning before BS3 is even awake and go for a run, that way, I don't have to worry about whether or not I am going to get a nice peaceful workout.

My gf and I like to work out together. It's nice to have the support of someone else there. We usually work out between when sd is picked up by the bus for school and before we both go to work, but SD doesn't have school Friday sat or Sunday so it makes those days hard. I'd love to have a "workout space" but we live in an apartment right now so there isn't much room. I'll definitely try setting up something for her to do because the "don't leave your bedroom" or "go play by yourself" isn't working and I don't want to stop in the middle of a workout for a time out tantrum.
