OT sortof/ Thanksgiving
It sucked. Seriously.
DH and I cooked all day making a lovely meal for 5pm. S/sons had lunch with their mother at 2pm. DD and SIL and Gkids had lunch at DDs in-laws at 2pm. No one was remotely hungry so they ate a slice of turkey and some dessert. WTF????
So the plan for 2013 is this (if we are still all around after 12/21/12)... DH and ODD (visiting next year maybe)and I will sit down to a grownup lunch at 12pm. Then the others can come over for dessert later. I may open a bag of chips and dip, maybe not. But I will be damned if my T/giving plans get shanghaied by DHs ex and DDs in-laws again!
They can have their big dinner and sit around the table talking about how much they miss deceased relatives and being 'thankful'. I will be thankful NOT to have to cook for a cast of thousands again! I wonder if I can talk my MIL into coming to our city for T/Giving? She is ALWAYS good value!

This year BD was going to be
This year BD was going to be at her boyfriend's sister's place for TG, an hour down the road, 2:00 dinner. Then was going to try and get up here for our 7pm dinner. I said, look, why rush. We'll have our "TG" dinner Sunday night (like usual). Flexibility is good. They got to have a good visit w/ his sister. We had a blissful day to ourselves, and Asian BBQ Duck at our leisure. So yeah, go ahead and make the schedule that works for you. We all deserve some ease.
It's funny how skids always
It's funny how skids always have room for more dessert and junk food.
