Is anyone familiar in this area?

Any information would be helpful, I've been googling and reading the IEP, but would like some input please.

Let me know if you want to talk privately-- I am a former inclusion support teacher and am a professor of special education.
happy to share expertise, as it might help you.

okay-- send me a private message and just give me some info on the IEP meeting, how old your son is, the kinds of services/supports they talked about for him, etc.
Did you sign it? How did the meeting feel to you?

ps. I should add I'm on parents' sides! I work with atty's as a the educational "expert" to support parents in suing schools or in advocating for best practice, less restrictive placements, etc. I believe that system could be a lot different (better, more humane) than it is.

My oldest DD (now age 26) has Prader-Willi Syndrome, IQ of 70.

You can pm me as well if you like.

My 20-yr-old son has Down Syndrome (mental retardation), so I have been dealing with IEPs and the school system for many years. Because I also have a degree in Education and am familiar with the education process, I have also been called upon by many of my friends to be an advocate for their children when they have issues and concerns with THEIR children's IEPs.

Please feel free to PM me as well if you have any specific concerns.

You can also PM me. I have worked in Special Ed on the Life Skills side as well as the Behavioral End. I also have a 19 year old son with Aspergers. Working on both sides and sitting on both sides of the table in ARDs has given me much insight.
Good luck to you and I am here whenever you need to chat.
