I feel like counseling is a joke now..

So I have been all for counseling. Now the counselor for my SD'S states that the steeling is not really steeling it just impulsiveness. I'm sorry wtf?? Really so stealing money, my purse, all yes all of my daughters jewelry, all the twenties out of a piggy bank, my nieces stuff and the list goes on.. Is impulsive not steeling... Then she suggestive that if she is caught stealing that we offer her one of that item that she stole because she has low self esteem and the SD feels like she has been wronged.

It is only right??????....OMG....that is more horrible awful "speak" from "counselors."

I am a licensed counselor, and I DETEST my FDH's kids. I want nothing to do with them. I will not allow toxicity in my life.

Oh boy....I counsel teens and

Oh boy....I counsel teens and their parents-this is absolute HORRIBLE advice. I am not surprised, though, because I work with and attended school with "counselors" who should not be in the profession.

So, if SD goes to the store and steals, let's see how the store feels about this "counselor's" advice.

UGH-all I can say, as it has been a rough day here (I work with teens with learning and behavioral disorders and they have been really out of sorts the past 2 weeks).

I have to tell you, I deal with LOTS of step-parenting issues in my job and some of the "advice" that people have been given, that I have read on here, makes me really sad.

How old is your SD?

My FDH's daughter is 23 and thinks stealing is ok, if you don't get caught or you do not "mean it."
