New air...

Last-Wife's picture

The air in the house has a new feeling without Princess, SD18, around. She's been at college for one week, and already the house has changed.

I went back to work this week, as a teacher, and all three boys went back to school on Thursday. In my mind, I promised myself I was not going to clean up every little mess or freak out if I came home from a long day of work and the house was a mess.

Loghead has been trying to finish up his temp construction job, but he spent most of the week home, finishing up odd jobs around the house and preparing to begin his new teaching job next week. The house was still messy when I got home, but at least there was a hot meal on the table. I appreciated the food so much, that I was olay with the fact that in order to cook, her dirtied every dish in the house. (Why do men do that?!) I simply thanked him, and took over the after dinner chores.

I requested the skids do their laundry to catch up before school began. I guess that wasn't important to loghead, because it's not done. Oh, well. There are piles of wet dirty towels on the floor in their bathroom. Too bad when Loghead didn't ahve a clean towel the otehr night. I had hidden away 2 clean ones, one for me and Gibby. We've been able to keep up our personal hygiene. LOL. That was Tuesday. When I came home Friday night, there was a basket of freshly washed and folded towels waiting in the laundry room.

The skids have pretty much just dealt with their dad this week. I went into work every day at 6:30 and worked every night till almost 8, just to get my classroom and lessons ready. Tuesday night, the boys had 4 friends over, playing games and eating pizza all night. Wednesday night was back to school, to be ready to catch the bus Thursday morning at 7:00.

No arguments, not yelling, no slamming doors. So far, so good.

And I've lost 5 pounds on weight watchers.

My oldest is a Junior in college. He was home for a few weeks this summer. He left this morning to go back to school.

I always enjoy having him home for a few weeks. But I was sooooooooooooooooo ready for him to GO BACK TO SCHOOL!
