I'll have you know- I DID NOT cry! LOL

Someone said they thought I'd cry when I left my SD at the dorm on Sunday. No. Hell, I don't think the "happy" smile has left my face yet!

We did have a nice weekend though. It was just her, me and Loghead. Neither of us wanted to be with her, since she had been so awful Friday night. She was mad because we wouldn't let her go see Stepping Stone, her boyfriend. he's going to the same university, and wanted her to come over and help him pack his stuff. Loghead was ready to kill her when she threw one of her tantrums. So of course Saturday morning, niether one of us wanted to ride with her, but we didn't want to tell her, so he just packed her car full!

We went to campus, got her books, saw where her room was, checked into our hotel. After a rest, we went to the state fair. She acted 8 instead of 18. It was great. It really was nice.

Loghead gave lots of dad advice and mini-lectures- mostly ending with the unsaid "dump Stepping Stone." She seemed to take it all in, and didn't argue back once. Sunday morning, her nerves was shot. After getting everything into her room, we helped with a few things. She snipped at Loghead twice, and he decided it was time for us to go. We took her for a picnic lunch, took her back to the dorm. We told her we didn't want to see her again till Parent Weekend in mid-September, and by then we expected her to have lots of new friends to tell us about. Loghead told her at least 3 of them had to be boys!

She broke down in tears. I hugged her tight and told her she'd be a great woman, when she was ready to grow up, and that I had faith in her. I got in the car, and we drove away.

No tears.

And a nice memory of hanging out at the fair, searching for the Butter Cow and having powder sugar all over her from the funnel cake.

After her behavior these last few weeks, I didn't expect that. I was pleasantly surprised...
