$$$ out the window
As alot of you already know, my SD is 8 and still wets (floods) the bed every single night and alot of the time during the day if we are out somewhere or in the car longer then an hour. I am SOO tired of spending money on diapers and I was wondering if anyone here uses cloth diapers and if it was even an option. She is average height, just SUPER skinny and is just bearly 40 lbs if that. The pull ups were a joke as they leaked ALL the friggan time and were a heck of alot more then diapers. I also thought that if she could feel being wet, it would help to motivate her more to get up to go or at least tell me she has to go when we are in the car or out somewhere. I am also looking for the cheapest option, if thats even possible. I really dont want to have to keep buying diapers for an 8 year old!!! Thanks everyone!

That is all I got.......

Hahahaha. My ss is 14.5 and still wetting himself nightly
Well, if you use cloth, she
Well, if you use cloth, she will get wet, and so will anything else she is sitting on or sleeping on. Might be a good idea around the house, but not if you go out. Have you had her checked, does she have a medical issue that is causing this? At 8 she should not be wetting herself. I don't know, but I'd be trying some tough love with her, such as we can't do so and so because you wet yourself and it would be embarrasing or uncomfortable to be there when you wet. I don't know something like that. If you've had her checked out and she is still wetting during the day, it is most likely because she is lazy. My sister wet the bed at night until she was 11, but never during the day. Or make a chart and give her some stars when she doesn't wet for a day or half day and promise her when she can go an entire 2 weeks (or whatever you feel is fair) then she will get a special toy or get to go somewhere special. Once you know she can do it, and she goes back to wetting, you will know it is because she doesn't care or perhaps wants attention.
Good luck!
We have had her checked
We have had her checked medically and she is perfectly fine. As I mentioned in my previous reply, she is doing alot better during the day then how she was a couple months ago. Its mainly the night time that I need help with. She could care less that she soaks the bed every single night and wont lift a finger to help herself stop. That is one of the reasons I thought the cloth ones would push her to start caring if she feels uncomfortable, but still protect the bed, sheets and whatnot. It was a thought, I wasnt sure if that was even an option or not as I have NEVER used cloth before.

I just need something for
I just need something for night time as that is when she wears them. The daytime accidents used to be all the time and since BM left, she has been doing alot better. I was hoping to find something so I dont have to spend money week after week.

Wow, I can't imagine that. I
Wow, I can't imagine that. I couldn't wait until my DD14 was trained at age 2 1/2!!!!
If there's no medical issue - what is the problem?
I want to tell u a story
I want to tell u a story about me. I wet the bed till i was 17. Not that i wanted too. I tryed everything. The docs just said i was lazy and never once gave me a pee test. In turn i got in trouble. I got spanked and things taken away. I even wet myself some times. I couldnt help it.
When i got preggo my doc said i had the worst uti he had ever seen and couldnt understand how my.kindneys hadnt failed. I just couldnt hold it at all. I could.feel i needed.to.pee but never could make it.
My parents were so upset when they found out they cried and held me and said of they had known. Of course it wasnt their fault thy took me to lots of docs they were being stupid and saying i was lazy. When they were the lazy ones by.not testing me.
I tell you this so that you can make sure this is not happening to your sd. Just a thought.
I was embarressed so.i.never said anything.
When my dh and I were dating
When my dh and I were dating my ss14 was wetting his pants! We are talking a Jr.High age kid, walking around campus, church, where ever with wet pants because "he forgot" to go to the bathroom. When he came over to my house he was not allowed to sit on furniture, sleep on the beds, and we stopped going places until he learned that his lazyness is not accepted. And it took a while! He just flat out did not care! And neither did his parents! I dont think it was until an outsider (me) started calling him on the dirtyness, the grossness, not letting him get away with it. When ever I was around I was consistent in reminding him to go to the bathroom too. Good Luck!
I peed myself in bed last
I peed myself in bed last night. Then at the OB office, I was stripping down and I sneezed and pissed the floor; DH was in the room when it happened, too. We were madly trying to mop up the piddle (not a lot as I had JUST GONE to the toilet right before walking in the room!), but we mopped up the little puddle and washed hands and got up on the table before they came in. I have been peeing myself randomly. They can't really test for weakened sphincter muscles. I have actually completely voided my bladder a couple of times, once when I threw up, my entire bladder emptied right there in my pants and all down my legs and all over the floor. Once I leaked a little and once it leaked out, I couldn't squeeze it tight enough to keep the rest from flowing out!
I have started doing Kegel exercises, but still happening. No UTI or kidney infection or kidney stone right now (had all of those in the past eight months during this pregnancy). I think the pelvic muscles are weakened.
Could your stepdaughter perhaps just have a congenital defect of weakened urinary sphincter or pelvic floor muscles and really be desensitized to it? Maybe just depressed along with it to the point of not caring?
I pee when I sneeze, run on
I pee when I sneeze, run on the treadmill, cough, vomit, etc. I have an old lady bladder. It is really embarrassing!
I have the same thing. It's
I have the same thing. It's called "stress incontinence" and it was caused my childbirth in my case. I had surgery to correct it, but it failed after 6 months (trans vaginal taping with mesh). I've done the Kegels, lost weight and drink a ton of water every day but I still leak when I sneeze, laugh or cough. It sucks ass. I'm only 40 but have been battling this since my daughter was born 14 yrs ago.
As I said above my 14 year
As I said above my 14 year old ss still wets himself nightly. I know when he was 7 or 8 he would pee himself at school and during the daytime. He would sit in it all day at school adn I could smell as soon as he came home. We tried everything. He has been on several medications, we tried a pee alarm. I did finally tell him at 8-that I was going to have to start sending him to school in a pullup-sending a change of clothes or whatnot because he was getting a rash all over him. This seemed to scare him and he stopped. Abruptly. At least the daytime thing. We tried coming up with strategies to help him at night-limit his fluid intake, chart of when to go to the potty, but he refused to even try. said it wasnt his fault he did it so there was nothing he could do to change it.
Bought a plastic sheet for the mattress. At least that will protect the bed. Of course my ss didnt like it so would rip it off every night, but you might have more luck with your sd.
I'd request a in-depth
I'd request a in-depth medical exam with a Pediatrician. If she is skinny, what about diabetes? Thyroid? Kidney malfunctions? Sleep disorders? If there truly is no medical problem, it may well be an emotional one. Then she needs counseling. Or maybe she is developmentally disabled? Was her mother a drinker/drugger while she was pregnant? Any hereditary bed wetting problems? She may act like she doesn't care, but I bet she feels really bad about it and maybe acts like she doesn't to hide her feelings. I know I would feel awful.
I just can't go along with humiliating a kid over this (making her sleep on the floor, garbage bags, etc.), she may not be able to help it. I had a friend who wet the bed until she was out of high school. Turns out she had a deformed kidney that was never diagnosed and couldn't help it. Her parents really made her feel humiliated about it. My brother wet the bed for years after my dad passed away, he had night terrors and was afraid to get up and go to the bathroom. We were kids and made fun of him. I'm so very sorry that I did that to him. But I can't take it back.
Have you both sat down with her (and the Doctor) and talked about a plan to avoid this? Like putting a plastic cover on her mattress, getting up every few hours to pee, cutting her afternoon liquid intake, a wet bed alarm, etc.? If this doesn't work, set out clean sheets/night clothes and kindly show her how to change them herself when she wets her bed. And where to put the wet sheets. Show her how to work the washing machine during the day (under supervision) so she can learn to clean up after herself. The plastic mattress protecter will keep the mattress dry, then the wet sheet problem will be hers to handle if you've tried all your options. Your DH needs to be actively involved, I hope he's not just laying there in bed playing possum while you do the work involved. I know my DH used to do that when any of the kids needed help at night.
My ss5 started wetting the
My ss5 started wetting the bed at bms house a while back...a few weeks later he started doing it while with us, too. Dh tried talking to him and it made no impact. We have a newborn and while I was up one morning I checked on him...about 6 am. He wakes up at 630 and nonchalantly says he peed the bed. I know he didn't pee before I checked on him because he sleeps on top of his blankets after peeing the bed. Anyway, I told him that if he pees the bed again I'm going to wake him up to use the toilet every time I'm up with the baby. He called my bluff and one night I woke him up each time I was up. No more peeing the bed. I think he was just being lazy.
That is the exact course of
That is the exact course of action you need to take, no big deal, just wake them up once a night to go pee. They will usually stop after that.
I wet the bed till I was 12.
I wet the bed till I was 12. My brother till he was 14. We were very stressed out kids. Is your Sd stressed.
