OT- Christmas Present for parents

justmakingthebest's picture

I have no idea what to get my mother for Christmas. The only thing she told me was getting her house pressure washed. That is the lamest gift ever. My sister's DH will just go over and do it, it isn't a big deal, he didn't know she wanted that.

I have to come up with something. My mom spoils all of us like crazy at Christmas. I just don't want to give her something lame... My sister got her nice Soma PJ's and some cutesy wine glasses. Those are my go-to with my mom, she got there 1st! Evil sisters...

I need mom ideas! Help!

What does she like to go with her wine?

For instance, if she likes chocolate, make up your own gift basket of assorted goodies. Or, if she likes pasta, same thing, get some unique pasta, sauce, olive oil, you can do a whole Italian theme. Or bath products or... anything.

TJ Max (if you have one) is great for items to make these baskets. Everyone that I've given one to, loves them.

Having the same problem with my father, he needs nothing and tired of just taking the easy way out with a Cabela's Gift card, anything nice we can't afford this year also.

Some info on what your mom likes to do would be helpful but here are some things that I've gotten family in the past:

- "movie" box from amazon - includes candies and popcorn, with a ticket for one free rental from Redbox

- Gift card for a cooking class (Sur La Table does these)

- Snack Crate box - snacks from around the world

- Birch Box - make up sampler box that comes monthly

- Credits to Audible - basically an online site for audiobooks

I know the whole "spa day" is always recommended but I feel like no one ever does it! lol as a mom, I would absolutely LOVE a spa day.

Does she like to go out to eat? Read books? Gift certificates to restaurants or a book store.

DH and FIL are impossible to shop for, and I just ordered them the Booze-Infused Jerky crates from mancrates.com.  I think they will like them.

MIL likes crafting, so we usually get her a Michaels giftcard, or Walgreens to develop photos.  Boring.  She's diabetic, but if she wasn't, I would get her something from gormetgiftbaskets.com.  Or a fruit or cookie boquet from cookies by design or harry and david.

I use ebates to save money, because imo these baskets are a bit pricey.

Thanks y'all! I think a spa day will be just the thing! Mani, pedi and massage!
