I must be the biggest bitch!!
I must be the biggest bitch!! My SD(8) has lice for the second time in a 4mth period. She apparently asked her BM to check her head last Wed and her BM said," no, theres no way you can lice again", so after begging her BM several times, she finally checked and SUPRISE!!!! LICE!!! So last Wed I stayed home from work cleaning the entire house, washing her bed sheets, putting any brushes, hairtyes, etc away in a seal tight bag like a good little housewife does only to find myself itching a couple days later! Last night I had my DH check my head and SUPRISE again!!! LICE!!! So normally, I wasn't happy about this, I've never had lice in all my 27 years of living (guess theres a first for everything). So I told my DH that I didnt want her coming here this weekend to infect the house and ME some more. Thinking it would only be logical to confine the situation, instead of her dropping off her lice everywhere she goes. Well he blew up on me, because I had total disreguard to her feelings, or wasn't companssionate enough about the situation. So I fired back saying he constantly caterers to her every need and he always puts her first, defending her every chance he gets. It makes me sick to think I'm married to someone like this. I will forever be battling against a fucken 8 year old and I will always be wrong and he will always defend her..Im in a lose lose. What can I do? This is a serious problem. I didn't mean to not care about her feelings, that wasn't the point. But everything was blown up to me not being able to handle that he has a daughter. FUCK HIM!!!!! Help please!!! I am wrong with the situation at hand?
Once again, I'm the cold-hearted bitch!!

no you arent wrong, i would
no you arent wrong, i would have done the same. what would he do if the situation was reversed!? the other day ss was sick, and bm had been posting stuff on her myspace about her thinking she might have the swine flu, well she is a big fat ugly slob so i guess you could say anytime she is sick she has swine flu, but seriously, since she had ss for that time, i told dh that is ss came back and had any symptoms of being sick....he would go straight back to bm. mainly because we can not afford for me to get sick!
anyways, i have learned that with men we must wear kit gloves in delivering such requests. maybe if you can approach it differently he will understand...make him feel sorry for you, hell cry if you have to. he needs to see your emotions as alive and kicking and most importantly valid! id say a lot of men realize that when you start to cry that you mean business. why does sd keep getting lice? is this a cause of lack of parenting of bm? is sd irresponsible?
After having my first
After having my first experience with lice about a month ago after 26 years, let me say I feel your pain. I had no idea what they even look like. Thankfully I didnt get them and Im assuming its for various reasons. You werent wrong. Why keep bringing her back and forth if BM is going to do her job on her end. Situation sucks but unfortunately I dont have any good advice. Good luck.
Life is what you make it.
who the hell knows why she
who the hell knows why she keeps getting lice, the first time she got it from her cousins house and THE BITCH (BM) said she got it from school this time. So THE BITCH sent her back to school with the damn lice...what a stellar parent!!
Try using listerine on your
Try using listerine on your hair. It is a lot better than the lice stuff you buy over counter. Also heard that mayo works too.
We used the mayo and vinegar
We used the mayo and vinegar on my SD's head and I sat here at the computer researching for about 45 mins about home remedies and they said Olive Oil. So I put E.V.O.O on my hairs and rubbed away then put a shower cap on& went to bed. needless to say Rachael Ray would've LOVED me! I could've fried chicken on my head! Anyway, my girlfriend came over today to comb those little bastards out and we only found 2 tiny ones that were dead! YAY!
Ugh, my SDs keep getting
Ugh, my SDs keep getting lice. Last week they got them again for the second time in about a month.
DH checked my head and couldn't find any but my head won't stop itching just thinking about them.
It's such a pain in the ass. I know BM doesn't do what she's supposed to at her house. Everytime they get them we have to boil (not literally) their sheets, boil (literally) all their hairbrushes, etc. I have to spray who knows what kind of chemicals all over the mattesses, carpets, furniture where they lay their little parasite infested heads.
If you think you're a bitch, when my sd's got them last time a month ago, I put all of their various throw blankets, (they have like 12 between them b/c everyone seems to think they make great gifts and they usually feel the need to drape them everywhere) in the top of their closet and EVERYtime after they came back from their mom's house after 3 clean headchecks, they could get them down. I was actually checking their heads at the door. That's what it comes down to. I guess I'm going to have to check their heads at the door from now on, EVERY TIME they come back from their mom's. Oh scheesh! I could scream at the mere mention of headlice. Speaking of which, they're both due for their followup treatment tonight.
Maybe you should make them
Maybe you should make them wear a shower cap everytime they come over. That's what I did to my SD. Im not cleaning my whole damn house everytime she's here (every Tues, Thur and evreyother wkend-UGH) and your right, those chemicals aren't good for you OR your pets. I have to lock my cats away when I spray that crap on my couches and carpets. Its not fair. How did these little peckers come to be???
You make her wear a shower
You make her wear a shower cap?! all wknd tues, thur?!
LMAO!!!!! I should, then I'd
LMAO!!!!! I should, then I'd REALLY know she wasn't infesting my house. No, we only do it when we first find out she has them, until we can pick and yes literally pick at her head to get all those little f-kers out.
Don't call authorities, I'm not THAT mean....;)
ok I was scared for a bit.
ok I was scared for a bit.
Ya, I don't think I could do
Ya, I don't think I could do that. They live with us. They see their mom EOW. But I looked up the listerine treatment online after reading that suggestion here. I tried it last night. Put it on their heads, wrapped them in plastic caps and left it on for 2 hours. Then they got in the shower, washed it with an apple cider vinegar/shampoo mix (I read vinegar helps loosen the eggs from the hair shaft) and then put a ton of coconut conditioner (I read lice don't like that smell) then had them comb and comb and comb with one of the metal nit combs.
From everything I've read, as long as you focus on treating the head and getting everything out of there, the house will be okay. There sheets and everything are washed and mattresses sprayed so ...
I'm going to do the listerine treatment every Tuesday night for the next month. And they're using nothing but coconut scent from here on it. Maybe have them rinse with listerine every once in a while for good measure. I read all of this will repel them and kind of makes the girls' heads lice-proof. I hope they're right because right now their heads are extremely lice-prone.
HAHAHAHAHA, he's very aware
HAHAHAHAHA, he's very aware the poor excuse for a human being (BM) isn't doing her share.
Well he just better watch himself, or I'll be sprinkling some of my louses on HIS head AND he can starve!!!
try dealing with it for the
try dealing with it for the last 5yrs. sd is prone to it, and when she went to tx last year she was clean, came back and was infested. we are still doing hair every week cause sd doesnt understand about sharing hair ties and clothes.
its the most exhausting thing i have ever dealt with, aside from sd11.
good luck and all i can say is maybe have dh do her hair and the house work. then maybe he will see why u want her all clean before coming back over.
Amen to that, after I took
Amen to that, after I took care of it the first time, then the girls went to BMs and came back with it, I made DH deal with it.
It's no fun all that washing and spraying and combing and itching the whole time because it's just so ew!
Now we pretty much take turns, they get it so often and I think it's because BM doesn't do everything she needs to. Poor SD8 hasn't seen her stuffed animals in months because they've been quarantined in a big plastic bag and she hasn't been without lice for a whole month since before she went to BM's house for the summer!
"Things we learned: Lice
"Things we learned: Lice don't like slippery hair, but you don't have to use oil, they don't like hair conditioner. Also, you can take things like stuffed animals, pillows, hats, brushes and seal them in bags and put them in the freezer for a few days. Generally speaking if a live lice is not on a person, it's at the end of it's life cycle and is dying, so by washing bedding, vacuuming and washing surfaces you should be okay. Both households half to be on board or you will get re-infestation."
Exactly, good advice. If BM doesn't bother to clean her house you SD shouldn't be over.
When I was little my step
When I was little my step sister always had lice when she came over. My mom would meet her at the door, make her go straight to the bathtub. She would strip in the bathtub, put her clothes in a trash bag then my mom would put them straight in the washer. My mom would treat her hair. She also had her hair cut short. We never got lice again after mom started doing that. The shampoo may not be the best for health but having lice sucking the blood out of your head all the time can make you very sick. It's not the childs fault. Bm is prob. not disinfecting everything like she should and thats why it keeps comming back.
The best way to get rid of
The best way to get rid of lice and about the cheapest, Hair dye!! Get the same colour as your hair then dye it, those shampoos are soo expensive, and they don't work all that well, and take solice in the fact that the kids with the cleanest hair are the ones who usually get lice!! This worked for my mother who had 7 children and for me and I have 6!! I have a few tricks up my sleeve!!LOL!!
I had heard that the lice
I had heard that the lice were getting immune to the prescription medicine! GREAT! So, at least there is the hair dye! I'm not going to tell my bd because she might search out someone with lice just so she can get her hair dyed! (because I told her no, she was too young!)

Boy, I feel your pain! My sister was fighting headlice a few years ago and I use to watch my niece frequently for her! Course, she didn't tell me that she was fighting head lice because she was ashamed about it! THANKS, SIS!!! So, we all got head lice! I was so mad that my sister didn't tell me that it was happening and I was watching her kid during this time AND we ended up with it TWICE because she didn't tell me it happened again! :jawdrop:
