Christmas Realities
Earlier this week my Mom asked if we had SD14 Christmas Day. According to the CO we have noon Christmas until noon the next day this year. We alternate every year. I advised her, technically yes, but since SD, BM, and DH always change the CO on a whim to satisfy SD I would verify to make sure. When I brought up the question to DH it resulted in a minor fight where he became immediately defensive. He stated it was his time, she will be there why would I even ask. I advised him that we always follow the CO when we have her Christmas Eve until noon Christmas Day, but on years like this SD always wants to go to BMs Christmas Day. He was continually defensive and ridiculous so I just replied, people like to know who to expect so if plans change please let me know.
The next day DH talks to SD, she advises him that she plans to be with us. DH proudly tells me that night that he was right, no plans, SD14 will be with us. Today BM picks up SD at noon for her Christmas time. We went to my family's Christmas Eve dinner, church, and to my Aunt's like we do every year. (DH's family is not in the area). Christmas at my parents will be after 1 pm, dinner, presents, all the fun stuff.
We're finally home and DH has an attitude. We still have things to get done, DD2 was fighting sleep, I finally said, you seem upset is everything okay. DH unleashes that SD called him and wants to spend Christmas with BMs family. Says "you were right" (of course I was) but that he didn't agree to it. He got angry and yelled at SD telling her he'd talk to her tomorrow morning. He'll give in to something I'm sure. That's his MO. I couldn't care less where SD is for Christmas, but I do care that he would have to leave a function to run her around. I'm holding back my I told you so... but moments like this when he sees the light are so refreshing.

Why does a 14 year old get to
Why does a 14 year old get to call the shots? Oh that'll get out of hand as she progresses into her teens. I've been there twice.
Yep. I have 18 and 16 year
Yep. I have 18 and 16 year old SS's who have been calling the shots for the past two years.
Unfortunately, making demands for change is useless if DH is already allowed it this long.
