SGD-14 coming to work at the farm tomorrow morning ...
SGD-14 is coming to shovel horse poop. She is thrilled to be out of her home with her biodad/SM. The last time that she was here she shrieked and cried. A 200 lb 9 year old raising sand upon my horse was flat ugly.
She's coming out and I'll put her to work for a bit with a few other teen volunteers. She is not used to physical work so anything she does will be good. Let her ride for a bit if I can get her up on my short drafty Norwegian Fjord mare. (Last time, a three step mounting block and my shoulder had to get her up.) Hope to give her one of those good-tired-feeling days.
Last summer her half-brothers came to Pony Camp. Uhm, ... that did not end well. I don't have the energy tonight to go into their story, but I'm glad that SO told CPS that he cannot take custody of them at this time.
Either I am a glutton for punishment or a secret optimist.
(Or, I'm a grown-ass woman who has a little girl inside of her jumping up and down: "I have ponies. Wanna come play?")

SGD-14 was slated to enter a group home for troubled teens for 9 months. She was excited because she thought she could get away from biodad/SM. That option has fallen through, so SGD-14 has been in tears. Praying to become a ward of the state & crying when it doesn't work.
Her brother, SGS-11 broke his ankle trying to escape his state placement yesterday.
I think of my years of infertility and wonder about those parents like SD-33 who abandoned their kids.

Aww, I love Fjords! I used to work at a vet clinic with a specialty in embryo-transfer, and there were 4 Fjord mares that were the sweetest little angels. They almost convinced me to let go of my lifelong love of Arabs.
Hang in there *hugs*

Wait, this must be a mistake. How can a 9 year old weigh 200 pounds? Am I misunderstanding something? My six foot STBXH doesn't even weigh 200lbs...?
(Good luck with the SGKs - and your farm life sounds wonderful. Ponies... Ah I wanna play too )
Yup, she was 200lb then ... I
Yup, she was 200lb then ... I thought she was around 240lb now at 14+ when she informed me that she was 345lb at her last doctor's appt.
